Title: God Comes to My Life
Content ?The coming God (Genesis 32:24-31)
There is a great wrestling scene in today's text. That is, Jacob wrestled with the angel of God and won. If we evaluate Jacob's life, it can be said that he lived upside down. Early on, Jacob deceived his brother and his father to take away his birthright and take away his blessings. As a result, he spent 20 years in exile at his maternal uncle's house in Haran. In the meantime, Jacob started his own family and accumulated wealth. Now that he is returning to his hometown, he was afraid of revenge for his older brother Esau.
Someone kicked Jacob's side, who was terrified as he could not cross the Jabbok River for fear of his brother. So the so-called dawn wrestling of Jacob begins. Interestingly, this fight is not Jacob's wrestling with God. In verse 24, the subject of wrestling is “someone.” We know very well that this certain person is God. This means that Jacob is not in a situation where he is holding on to God and praying all night long, but rather that God has come to Jacob because he has something to ask for.
God came to fight Jacob, who was left alone. The battle continued all night long, and at dawn God strikes Jacob's Hwando bone. The phantom bone is the strongest bone in the human body. It is also the most important part that a person can use. When God struck the Hwando bone, Jacob collapsed on the spot. Why did God strike this last place where Jacob could use his strength? Up to now, Jacob's philosophy had been, "I can do anything in my own strength, with my skill, with my own ideas." However, at this moment when the hip bone was broken, Jacob's life became a K.O. Now my life is over! At that very moment, you will hold on to God. Finally, Jacob began to depend on God Himself instead of his own talents as recorded in verse 26 of the text. Jacob could only pray sincere and wrestle properly after he had broken Hwando's bone. This wrestling was the wrestling of dawn that changed Jacob's life.
Now Jacob's life after winning the great wrestling begins to change. God changed the name of Jacob, who clinging to supplication and prayer. “From now on, call your name Israel.” Israel is “God reigns.” It means that God is in charge.’
Augustine said, "It is a blessing to walk the path of righteousness with a limp than to walk the path of injustice with dignity." But there are people who dwell with God before He compels me to be alone. There are people who can cling to God before He strikes my hip bone. Before praising God while bowing, there are people who live a life that pleases God as much as they can without bowing down. he is a wise man
Is there anyone who has never tasted the wrestling of dawn that changed their lives?
Today, at this time, I pray that you will become a person of faith who knows the taste, the grace, the joy, and returns.
