Title: God in person (Isaiah 45:1-7)
Content God in person
The personality of God is mentioned in several places in the Bible. And the personality of God is found in many ways.
1) The personality of God is found in the fact that God sets various purposes for himself and realizes them.
Creation of the universe, creation of man, the curse of Cain, the flood, the election of Abraham as the father of the nation, the life of Jacob and his sons, prison in Egypt, the Exodus and conquest of Canaan, the beginning of the monarchy, the destruction of the nation, the Emancipation and the like are by no means accidental.
These events were the result of a holy purpose ordained in God's will, and the realization of God's will (Genesis 1:1; 17:8).
2) God's personality is found in God's moral freedom. And this ethic is best shown in God's continual search for justice among men.
The Old Testament prophets clearly realized this and emphasized justice on the people of Israel. God's justice requires man to act rightly and to love mercy.
Ethical obedience was always required for man's recognition of God's justice. Humans have to choose either to fully accept and fulfill such a request or to stubbornly reject it (Genesis 12:1-5, 22:1).
3) The personality of God is found in the so-called anthropomorphic function. God walks, speaks, hates, rebukes, is angry, jealous, and loves his chosen one (Exodus 20:5; Psalm 7:11; Isaiah 45:5).
According to the biblical expression, God has a face, hands, a back, and a respiratory system. Although these are only superficial explanations of the person of God, they play an important role in revealing the person of God.
4) The personality of God is found in religious experience. All religious experiences are directed toward a personal God. Human worship and prayer presuppose a personal existence, and through such actions, the existence of a personal being is proved and we experience the living God.
