Title: God Is Spirit
Does God exist?
“Does God really exist? If there is a God, where is he?
How can we know him?” There is no more essential question. There is a huge difference between believing that there is a God and not believing that there is a God.
Saying “there is no God” is more difficult than acknowledging God. It's because our consciences are reluctant.
If we have been sentenced to death or are facing death, we will have a more serious problem with this issue. And if we do not acknowledge God, we cannot explain our existence. Many people wander because they do not know the reason for life.
The ideas and philosophies of the world are nothing more than human struggles who do not want to acknowledge the existence of God. The honest answer is one. Just as you have your parents who gave birth to you, you must believe that there is a God who created you.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1), the Bible declares without arguing with you.
If we acknowledge that God exists, hope will be created in a life full of despair, and God's blessing will begin to fall on a life that was full of death and curses.
Messiah meets in spiritual longing
Today I would like to introduce a woman who met God.
Known as the Samaritan at the Well in John 4, this woman was thirsty for the truth of life. A woman who has changed her husband five times to fill her empty heart, but has been betrayed and is living in despair.
However, the biblical text reveals that this woman has a longing for the soul. And this woman was waiting for the Messiah.
The woman had the hope that when the Messiah would come, her life would change, meaningless and hopeless. This is the motive for this woman to meet Jesus and receive glorious salvation. Let's take a closer look at the incident where this woman met God.
First, because the woman had no hope, she was able to meet God. Human despair is the door to meeting God.
There is a saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). I believe that if you meet God at the place where you failed, your life will change.
This woman, who had failed and despaired in the world, didn't want to run into people, so she came out at 12:00 when the sun was the hottest and no one came to draw water.
Second, this woman met God because God found her. It is not that you have met God, but that God has met you (John 15:16).
Third, this woman had a longing to meet God. No matter how much God visits her, it is of no use if she does not have a thirst in her heart.
worship in spirit
When Jesus said, “Give me a drink,” the woman did not know that the Jew was the Messiah.
However, while talking to Jesus, I found that Jesus knew everything about the woman's life, and I started to open my spiritual eyes by asking, "Are you a prophet?" Subsequent conversations between this woman and Jesus were about true worship.
The woman asked about places of worship, citing Jerusalem and this mountain as examples. It is as if people are arguing over issues such as, ‘There is salvation in this denomination and not in that denomination’ or ‘You must go to this church to receive salvation and not that church.
Rather than looking at the essence of worship, we are thinking only about the appearance. But Jesus said that God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
‘God is spirit’ means ‘God is not flesh’. You can only meet God in a spiritual way, not a physical way.
Because we have a body, we do all our thoughts in the flesh. You can understand it only when you feel it through emotion, intellect, will, rationality, and experience. The things listed above are of the flesh.
However, we cannot meet God with this human experience or knowledge. God who is spirit must be met with the spirit.
Look at Romans 8:5-7. Those who are after the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who follow the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. The mind set on the flesh is enmity with God, for it is not subject to the law of God. Not only can I not, I can't
Those who follow the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:5~7). They cannot meet, feel, or see God in a fleshly way. However, when you decide to meet God and accept Jesus, a spirit that can know God is created within you.
The spirit that comes from meeting Jesus is the key and the channel to meet God. Our sins have stolen our spirits so that we cannot touch God.
However, if you only accept Jesus, your spirit will be restored. I hope that you will meet Jesus today and meet God who knocks on the door of your heart with the restored spirit.
