Title: God is the Source of Life

You will dwell in the land the LORD swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” (Deuteronomy 30:20).

1. Background of the text

When the Israelites came to the promised land of Canaan after completing all their journeys in the wilderness, the command that God had already given to them was engraved on their hearts once again. Deuteronomy tells us how to live after entering the land of Canaan. This text corresponds to the conclusion of the entire book of Deuteronomy, and teaches the decisive guidelines for faith living in God's blessing.

II. God is the source of life

1. “Your longevity”

Teaching that for God's covenant people, God is not simply an object to be served, but God Himself is the source and source of their lives. “Your longevity” means “the length of your days” in Hebrew. So it means the length of a person's life in this world. It means that God is in control of the length of human life. Although the fear of dying prematurely is disappearing due to the aging population in modern times, in the context of the danger of numerous diseases and the war with foreign peoples awaiting, living long in this land was an urgent problem. Also, this is not just a promise to make people live longer, but it is a promise that God, the source, will provide the resources necessary to live on this earth.

2. “Your Life”

God is also the source of life. Life contrasts with longevity in the previous section. If longevity is a promise for earthly resources on this earth, life is a promise for heavenly resources. Even if a person is given a lot of earthly resources, if he does not overflow with heavenly resources, he cannot flow like a river. Therefore, we should ask for the grace of the inner life to be poured out upon us and the blessings of God upon it.

. God's command

1. love

Moses told the Israelites that in order to receive these blessings, they must first love God. If we look at the original meaning of the command to love God, it includes the meaning of the preposition into, which means to love God but to love God deeply. At that time, to love in the thrill of the Lord's love

2. Obedience

Obedience is the Hebrew word for ‘shama’, which means ‘to hear’, which also includes the meaning of the preposition into. Therefore, listening is listening, but outward listening is not obedience. Listening to the heart of God as he speaks is obedience to his voice “inwardly”. This is the secret to obeying the Word and living a life of change.

3. Edema (association)

The preposition into is also attached here. The Hebrew word for ‘subject’ is ‘davaq’, which means to be attached to God, to be united with God. The reason prayers do not go well even though they have not committed a serious crime is because they feel distant from God and are unfamiliar with God. But God wants us to feel close to Him and live our lives. Therefore, our goal should not be just to not sin, but to live in closeness to God.

We must form a unity in which we ourselves all die and melt into the bosom of God. To do this, you need to consider loving God and being loved by God as the highest goal in your life, and not wanting to have any resources in this world to the point of breaking your dabbak with God. God gives Davac's blessing to those who have the uprightness of the will to constantly stick to God. 2005-01-23
