Title: God Looking for One Person
Exodus (59) God is looking for one man (Exodus 22:16-20)
< Act on various sexual immorality >
Second, as a warning against spiritual fornication, we were told not to leave the shaman alive (verse 18). At that time, shamans were shamans who practiced divination using clever methods such as witchcraft and magic. God hates the practice of divination. Divination is one of the worst sins a believer can commit as an act that hurts the character of God by not believing in God's love. That is why, when he gave the law during the Exodus, he told them not to let the witch of divination live. How ironic that there were shamans among those who, by God's miracle, crossed the Red Sea.
Even among the saints who spiritually crossed the Red Sea today, there are those who like the so-called Jesus divination. God hates Jesus fortune-tellers more than just fortune-tellers. This is because, rather than just divination people, they violate even the 3 commandments of taking the name of Jesus in vain. With the faith that conquered death, the saints must obey and go out, saying “Amen!” no matter how God unfolds their future.
Third, as a law against sexual immorality with animals, anyone who commits sexual immorality with animals must be put to death (verse 19). Bestiality with beasts was practiced as a religious ritual in Egypt (Herodotus). Therefore, among the Israelites who had left Egypt, there were some who were best friends under the influence. However, since the act is a challenge to God's holiness, it denies the dignity of human beings made in God's image, and destroys the order of nature, it was stipulated that the bestiality must be killed.
Fourth, as a law against spiritual fornication, anyone who offers sacrifices to gods other than Jehovah must be destroyed. What is the greatest obstacle to godliness today? They are false gods. There are many false gods in the world. However, what is really dangerous is a false god who does not claim to be a god, but dominates people inwardly. Because the idol is the god who holds his heart like that, money, power, pleasure, ideas, and even the state can be idols. The Apostle Paul said that greed is idolatry (Colossians 3:5).
< God is looking for one person >
What is the difference between a false god and a true God? First, a false god encourages desire, but God restrains excessive desire. Second, false gods try to enslave the soul with terrible words, but God gives freedom to live as the subject of the soul. Third, false gods say, “I love only you,” but God says, “I love others too.” Fourth, false gods say that being ahead of others is success, but God says that living with consideration for others is success.
If you follow idols or false gods, you will end up in vain. If you drink salt water because you are thirsty, you will be thirsty even more. The euphoria felt by Americans is drawing a downward curve after peaking in 1950. 1950 was the year the U.S. government launched a large-scale campaign stating that “consumption is a virtue.” As I worked harder to own more, I had less time with my family, and when that time disappeared, tension and stress increased. In this vicious cycle, the essence of life dries up. Therefore, do not play with false gods who inspire desire.
The country's economy is not doing well these days, and its leadership is shaking. How can we survive and overcome this crisis? People always look for ways and tricks when a crisis comes, but God seeks the ‘people’, not the way, whenever society faces a crisis. When mankind fell into sin, God looked for one person, Noah, and used one person, Moses, for the work of the Exodus. As such, God was looking for people, not methods, in times of crisis.
What kind of person is God looking for? Because the curse of the present age is superficial, the people most needed in this age are not superficial people armed with shallow knowledge or talents, but godly people who understand the heart of God. In times of crisis, we need godly people. Who changes society in crisis? He is a godly person. How can we get through the crisis? You must learn and practice godliness.
