Title: God of Abraham / Luke 20:37-40

Content: God of Raham

Luke 20:37-40, Exodus 3:6

I know that everyone is having a hard time due to the uncertain economic environment these days. The fear of the future uncertainty is darkening people's minds more than the difficulties of the economy itself. But I hope you all have faith. I bless you as believers who believe that God will always open up a bright future when you are with them and move forward with faith.

The God we believe in is not just a vague God, but a living God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is a God of grace who guarantees the future of believers, hears the cry of the suffering, and gives blessings to those who are faithful. Please believe it.

In today's Bible verse, God is said to be 'the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'. This title is not a title that appears suddenly, but it is a word God has already spoken when introducing himself. The first one appeared to Jacob, who was sleeping on a stone pillow, and used it to introduce you.

And behold, the LORD stood upon it and said, I am the LORD.

The God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of Isaac.

I will give to you and to your descendants the land on which you lie.

...and in you and your descendants all peoples of the earth will be blessed. Genesis 28:13

The second was when he appeared to Moses in Exodus and introduced himself.

And he said, I am the God of your fathers; the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,

God of Jacob.... Exodus 3:6

The reason God introduces you in this way is because the name contains the kind of God we believe in. What is the confession of our faith contained in this sign of God?

First, we believe in the God revealed in the Bible.

The God we believe in is the very God revealed in the Bible. The God shown in the Bible, the God who appeared to Abraham, guided Isaac, and met Jacob on the ladder in the wilderness. The very God who appeared, met, worked, and spoke in the Bible is the God we believe in.

No matter how much we believe in God the Creator and experience God working by our side, if that God is not the God mentioned in the Bible, it is not our God. Because the God of Christianity is the very God revealed in the Bible.

God promised Abraham,

The God Isaac believed in,

God who blessed Jacob,

Finally, God who sent Jesus Christ,

God still speaks through the Bible,

That God is the God we believe in. That God is the God who worked in the numerous characters and events of the Bible. It is called the God revealed in the Bible.

I will follow you once.

God of Abraham,

God of Isaac,

God of Jacob,

God of David,

Paul's God,

My ( ) God, I believe!

Exactly. God is the God revealed in the Bible, and the living God who is with us today is the God we believe in. With this faith, people of all faiths were victorious in the difficult life path, did not lose strength in the path of hardship, and prayed, entrusting the future to God in the midst of suffering. I hope you too will stand firm on this belief.

Second, we believe in God the Creator.

We believe in the God revealed in the Bible. But what kind of God is the God revealed and written in the Bible? The first verse of the Bible reads like this:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

This is the first verse of the Bible. And these words are the first confession of faith that people who have Christian faith believe and confess. You cannot go beyond this word and proceed to any other confession of faith. This is because all Christian confessions of faith begin with the belief that God created the heavens and the earth. Knowing that I am a creature of God from faith in God the Creator, knowing that disobeying God is a sin, that sins can only be washed away by the grace of Jesus Christ on the cross, and knowing that only when we are saved can we restore the life of a child of God. , all of which can come from God's creation.

The God revealed in the Bible is the Creator God. Because we believe in God the Creator, we confess that nothing is impossible in faith. Sometimes, even when there is pain, I pray with patience, believing that He will surely open the way. Sometimes, even when we struggle in failure, we overcome through prayer, believing in God's power to bring us from nowhere. Sometimes, even in difficult times through the valley of the shadow of death, we do not lose hope, trusting God to lead us in the end. Because we believe in God the Creator.

I lift my eyes to the mountains, where will my help come from?

My help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

The Creator God is our God. We believe in God, the Creator. Be the saints who stand firm every day with this faith. I bless you that you will become the saints who run with courage every day with this faith.

Third, we believe in God the Father.

In today's text, God is called the God of the living.

....the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living... Luke 20:37-38

What does God of the living mean? It means that God is not the God of the past, but the God of today. A God who worked in the past, but works consistently today. Just as He worked with Abraham, He still works for us who live today. Just as He answered Jacob's prayer, He is still alive today and hears our prayers. God is always present in the living. He is not the God of the past that has been destroyed in history or appeared only in history, but the God of the living who works in the eternal present.

Jesus called this God 'God the Father'.

When you pray, go into your closet, close the door, and pray to your Father who is in secret.

Your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:6

you pray like this

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name... Matthew 6:9

In this way, Jesus taught God as 'Father'. When I think only of the Creator God, the God of power, I feel that God is too far away from me. Will God, who is so great and majestic, remember a poor, weak and insignificant being like me, understand my pain, understand my pain, hear my prayers, know my secret devotion? Am I doing it, I think.

So Jesus spoke of God the Father. God the Father, who knows my pain, who knows my pain, who knows my weakness, who knows my wish, who is gracious, merciful, and full of love, is our God.

The parable of the prodigal son is a very good description of this kind of father. A father who waits for his lost child to come back, a father who rejoices in his arms after a child who has returned as a limp and crippled after running out of all his possessions, a father who gives a feast when he is happy just to return. He is the God we believe in. God of love, God the Father.

If you, being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more

Will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? Matthew 7:11

I hope you will become believers who come closer to God the Father while believing this promise of God. Blessed be the saints who believe in the love of God the Father, carry whatever problems they have, and receive answers in prayer and receive blessings.

The God of Raham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob are the Gods we believe in. The God revealed in the Bible, the mighty Creator God, the God the Father who is with us, that God is our God. The God who worked on Abraham, the God who guided Isaac, and the God who blessed Jacob is our God. Just as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the ancestors of faith were blessed in his name, we believe that God grants us grace and blessings today.

Even if we go through difficult times today, I believe that God will surely bless us if we hold on to this God firmly. I bless you that you will become the saints of Antioch who stand strong anytime and anywhere with this faith.
