Contents Exodus 34:1-9
God of glory
“The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness and truth.
Looking at Moses' prayer in 1.33:18-19 and God's promise, look at how prayers were answered.
2. What is the name of God proclaimed in the text, and what kind of person did God appear as? (6-7)
3. What did Moses do when the glory of God appeared?
Consider the changes between Moses in Chapter 4.32 and Moses in Chapter 34 (8-9). Observe his maturity as a leader.
5. Look at Moses' prayer and content and find out what you can learn.
God who listened to Moses' contribution (33:18) revealed Himself. He proclaimed the name of God. A stiff-necked people worthy of God's abandonment, but seeing Moses, a man of God who obeys, God gives these people grace. We must realize deeply how important a person's sincere faith and obedience are.
1. The God Who Proclaimed His Name (1-7)
God had told Moses to cut two stone tablets like the first one, and then climb up Mount Sinai. As God commanded (4), early in the morning Moses went up to Mount Sinai with stone tablets. God showed his glory as promised to his faithful servant Moses. God has heard the prayers of those who yearn for Him. And God declared that He is one, rich in mercy, grace, kindness, truth, and love. How beautiful would our life be if we had such a God as the Lord of our lives? The God of love promises to forgive evil, negligence, and sins.
2. Moses kneeling down and praying (8-9)
God descended and showed his glory, and Moses hurriedly fell to the ground. And, ① I worshiped God. The more we realize God's will, love, and attributes, the more we worship God. But. What do fools do? (Romans 1:21) ② I asked, “Lord, walk among us.” All laws and ordinances are of no use if there is no God's action among us. Even having a big heart and being beautiful is of no use. Many achievements and human praise are also meaningless. Everything without God is in vain. (1 Corinthians 3:10-15) ③ I confessed my sins. He asked for forgiveness. When he prays, “Forgive us our iniquity and our sins,” he realizes that the people are not the only sinners (32:12) and that he himself is one of those sinners. In front of the glory of God, the ugly and evil aspects of all human beings are revealed. (John 3:20) ④Even though they were an ugly and shameful people, they prayed for God's inheritance to live. Hearing these prayers, God loves the people of Israel.
