When do you think of your parents the most in your life? Maybe it's time to face difficulties? My parents are the ones who understand me best, who will guide me on the most appropriate path, and who love me more than myself. The text well represents God the Father.
1. The God Who Warns
A small disaster is a sign of a big disaster. We must not ignore the warnings from God. God first warns our conscience through His Word. If you do not heed the warning and ignore it, He sends a small disaster and gives you a chance to turn around. But foolish humans are often unaware of the warning. Israel did. Verse 27 says, “If you do this to me, and you will not listen to me and still disobey me,” Confronting God is a terrible thing. Because it is the cause of destruction. When we ignore the small warnings from God, the flames of judgment grow bigger. God, who was angry with Israel, will finally send seven times more plagues (verse 28).
2. Desolation of the sanctuary
When the Israelites repeatedly sin, ignore God's warnings and refuse to obey His Word, God will defile their worship. And he makes their cities and sanctuaries desolate. (Verse 31) Although they worship diligently, there are times when they do not reach God and remain in formality. Although we pray hard, there are times when we do not receive God's answers. They sing beautifully using various techniques and tools, but sometimes they hover in the air. The reason is that they cannot follow the Word and live for their own greed, selfishness, and lust. It is because they do not listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the voice of the Word, and even if they hear the Word, they do not obey. A life of obedience to the Word is the worship that God is most pleased with.
3. Giving Rest to the Earth
It's not just humans who need rest. All creatures that are swayed by human greed need rest. Human greed has made the world restless, and land and livestock have been abused for their produce. God's mercy and mercy are not directed only to humans. God will drive humans out of the land if they do not take good care of the creatures and oppress them. (Verses 34-35) Therefore, believers must take good care of and manage everything that has been entrusted to them. If humans do not take care of the creatures and give them rest, God will force them to rest.
God doesn't want us to be ungrateful and evil beings. Therefore, we must remember God's saving grace, turn from the way of sin, repent, and come to God. And we must rule all things in the world according to the will of God that pleases them. I hope you will become the saints who obey the word you received today.
