Sermons for Preaching

Title: God Who Blesses Again

I. Background of the text

Deuteronomy 30 is a testamentary sermon that Israel received from Moses just before entering Canaan, and warns in advance what will happen if Israel, who entered Canaan and prospered, disobeyed God. Even at that time, Israel had the most pure faith in God. Just because we live in the overflowing grace of today, we cannot guarantee that we will live victoriously in that grace tomorrow. Because faith is not a sprint, we must continue the race of salvation until the day the Lord calls us.

II. life of the covenant people

There is only one life that is blessed before God, and the first factor is to have inner peace through peace with God. In inner peace, man possesses a peace that is not easily shaken by circumstances. Only through this can we hold the hands of those who are trembling with anxiety and live a life that flows into them with our disciplined fortitude and godliness. The second is to love God. Love is the only motivator to accept your loved one's plans and give up your own. If you love God, your own purpose in life will disappear, and you will come to accept the fact that your true happiness is in God, and the more you love God, the more you will depend on God. The third is to live with many resources before God with the peace that comes from peace with God and love for God. Because he loves God, he accepts every good plan of God and flows with God-given resources in a broken world to restore the purpose of creation, dispensing the light of knowledge, feeding the needy, and dressing the naked.

III. return from disobedience

However, while the covenant people, who were supposed to become people who were blessed before God and flow in this world, loved to fill their stomachs with God-given resources, their souls lost all their resources and became destitute. trapped within the resources of What if disobedience has broken our relationship with God, the source of all our resources? Here we see the way back from disobedience and the love of God to turn them around.

1. turn around

The first is to turn around. To turn around means to go in a new direction from the wrong direction you went before you turned around. This means not only a change of direction, but a new goal that is different from the previous one. Through this conversion, God allows those who have deviated from God's purpose and plan to return to God. When they forsake their path and turn to follow Jesus Christ, God's love flows like a wave, and believers experience God's forgiveness there.

2. Keeping the Commandments: A Life of Charity

The second is to keep the commandments. If we look at the text in the Hebrew Bible, it says, “Listen to the one voice of him, according to all that I (Moses) command you today.” The people of Israel are being taught a lot by Moses, and when they live by those teachings, it means that they will listen to and obey God's one voice through them. When we keep the commandments for each life given individually, we become a life of obedience to God as a whole. The life of charity is living a life of deep love for God, a life that is motivated by that love, heals this broken world with the resources God has given, and fulfills the entire purpose of God's creation.

3. Obedience

The third is obedience. To listen to His voice means to listen with the will to read the mind of God in His Word. This is the original meaning of obedience. Therefore, obedience is impossible without the inner change of the believer. A life that tries to escape the crisis by stealing resources somehow without such a total conversion before God is not pleasing to God. Rather than praying through the blood of those who are not in a place of blessing, God abundantly pours out heavenly resources and earthly resources into the lives of those who are in a place of blessing.
