Title: God Who Calls (Exodus 03:1-5)
Content Humans cannot see God not because God does not exist, but because the human heart has been corrupted by sin and has lost spiritual sight. Also, in the world, invisible love, such as heart or soul, are more valuable and noble than what the eye can see.
Such human beings cannot see God through the will of the corrupt, but on the contrary, Almighty God sees all human beings and is able to visit them as many times as they want (Genesis 15:1, Numbers 22:9).
Today's Bible is one of them (Exodus 3:5), God said, "Do not come near here, for the place where you are standing is holy ground, so take off your sandals from your feet." This is a historical event in which God Himself appeared to Moses.
1. Place of God's Presence
If Caesar, the Roman emperor, or Herod, the king of Judea, were living in a large and splendid palace for themselves, how majestic it would be to have God, who created the heavens and the earth, and who is the Great Ruler of the universe, who rules over them.
In the past, Moses had also lived in a splendid palace in Egypt for 40 years, but at that time Moses had never seen Jehovah God. Egypt was a splendid royal palace, but Moses saw not only God but various idols there, but Jehovah God had never seen him.
When Moses fled from Pharaoh's palace and had been shepherding for 40 years, the Lord God Himself was present while he was faithfully tending sheep under the desolate Mount Horeb, where red rocks and sparsely growing bushes were all over the place. Then, even the places of our lives today, such as the wilderness, can be a holy place where God can come freely.
2. The time of God's presence
The situation at that time was when the people of Israel were in Egypt (Exodus 3:7), and the Lord said, “I have truly seen the suffering of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their cries because of their servants, and I know their suffering.” was in
Also, Moses had been training for 40 years in the wilderness of Midian after God's trials and fighting with himself (Exodus 3:11), just as Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?" It was in a very low state, in contrast to the time when he was proud of his ambition.
Today is the time when we can meet God when we suffer sometimes and can no longer get through the suffering on our own. Also, it is the time to cast away our arrogance and realize that we are nothing and sinners before God and humbly deny ourselves This is the time to meet God.
3. Attributes of the Presence of God
The God who appeared to Moses was completely different from the idol gods Moses had experienced in Egypt in the past.1) He is the God who sees, hears, and knows the suffering of the people (verse 7).
2) He is the God who was with Moses and brought the people out of Egypt (verse 12).
3) As He said, “I am who I am,” He is the self-existent God (verse 14).
4) As the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, He was a God who will be remembered for generations to come (verses 6, 15).
Although God is an invisible and spiritual God, He is clearly a personal God who lives and cares for the suffering of His people, and He is the eternal God who rescues them and becomes their savior.
The Lord God who appeared in the flames of the bush of Horeb and called Moses and gave the mission to deliver his people from Egypt is the same Jehovah God we believe in now.
The way and purpose of God to save people (Romans 8:30) is also calling them the same as he said, “Those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
How humbly we deny ourselves before God's call, how humbly we obey when He calls His chosen people to be saved through me as gospel workers, and how faithful we are to the work of salvation that has already been entrusted to us. I hope that you will become the saints who look back on themselves.
