Title: God Who Came to Earth!
Contents
※ Bible: Isaiah 9:6-7
King Solomon built the Jerusalem temple he had dreamed of over 7 years and completed it in 950 B.C. and offered a dedication service to God. Solomon built the temple from Lebanon cedar, the best material at the time. Even today, Lebanon cedar is recognized as the best building material in the world. After building the temple, King Solomon prayed, “Will God really dwell on the earth? If the heavens and the heavens of the heavens cannot tolerate you, how much more will this temple that I have built?” (1 Kings 8:27). This prayer is that our God, “Even the heavens and the heavens of the heavens do not tolerate the Lord. But how could he have God in the temple he had built?
Even the universe is not enough to serve God. But God came to this earth, no, to my heart. This day is Christmas Day. Therefore, the birth of Jesus is a very important event in human history. Today, world history, based on the birth of Jesus Christ, is called B.C (before christ) and after the birth of Jesus is called A.D (Anno Domini), so it is used all over the world. So, what does the birth of Jesus Christ give us today? And I try to receive grace while thinking about what it means.
First, Jesus is the Ruler of the universe.
“For to us a child is born, and a son is given to us, and government is upon his shoulders…” (Isaiah 9:6)
The word shoulder refers to strength. So, in baseball, when a catcher says “I have strong shoulders,” it means that I can throw the ball well because I have good strength. The phrase “He carried government on his shoulders…” means that he came to us as “rulers and rulers.” On the day that Mary was pregnant with Jesus Christ, an angel said to her, “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end” (Luke 1:32,33). is saying that he came to this earth as a king as a ruler.
Just before ascension, Jesus said to his disciples, “...All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18). In this way, Jesus has authority in heaven and on earth. So the wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem, “knowing the coming of the Messiah” and said to King Herod, “Where is the born King of the Jews! that was asked. Then what kind of ruler is Jesus who came to this earth?
John 10:10 says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” Jesus came to give us life and to give us a more abundant life. That's why Romans 8:19 says, "The anticipation of the creation is the manifestation of the sons of God." The reason for this is “to be set free from the enslavement of the creation to corruption and to the glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:21). and to enjoy an abundant life.
Second, Jesus is our comforter. Comforter.
Third, Jesus came as the Prince of Peace.
The angels sang the birth of Jesus. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased” (Luke 2:14).
Before carrying the cross, Jesus said to his fearful disciples, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you” (John 14:27). He came to give us a peace that the world cannot give.
Also, when Jesus died on the cross, the disciples hid in fear. However, the resurrected Jesus personally visited the fearful disciples. And he “gives peace” to the disciples. (John 20:19) The peace that Jesus gives drives away fear, drives out war, and brings our souls to true rest.
Jesus came to this earth as the Prince of Peace. So where Jesus reigns, there is peace. Heaven is made.
Christmas is the season when we have Jesus as our ruler. With the birth of Jesus, the kingdom of heaven is established, and Jesus becomes our Comforter and Comforter. Boldness and complete victory in our lives will come when we accept Jesus, who has come as the Prince of Peace.
