Title: God Who Creates / Colossians 1:15-18

The Creator God / Colossians 1:15-18

The universe is beyond our imagination. Scientists have found that the sun is a million times larger than the Earth. It is said that the Milky Way, which hangs like a long band of clouds in the night sky, is a cluster of stars. There are about 100 billion stars in one galaxy, and it is said that about 100 million such galaxies have been discovered so far. In the beginning, God created this beautiful world and the universe out of nothing. The joy of creation was expressed in one word, “It was very good in God’s eyes.” Today's Bible says that all these things were made by God, Jesus Christ.

1. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God.

Here, the word “image” and “akon” (ε κ ν) means that Jesus Christ is the revelation of God itself and is the supreme revelation. “In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God.” “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen his glory. That glory was the glory of the only begotten son from the Father, and in him was full of grace and truth” (John 1:1,14). No one can know God except through Jesus Christ. So Calvin said. “We must be careful not to seek God anywhere other than Christ. Anything that depicts God apart from Christ is an idol” (1 John 4:1-3).

2. Jesus Christ is the Sovereign of all things (1:15,17)

3. Christ is the Creator of all things (1:16).

A Christian is one who can see the mysterious hand of God in his created creation. Karl Gibran, in his poem “The Prophet,” answers a priest who asks about religion: “Look at the sky. Then you will see him walking through the clouds and coming down from the rain with his arms outstretched in the lightning. You will see him smiling in the flowers, standing among the trees and waving.” God created this universe out of nothing by means of His Word. He is the Creator God.

4. All things were created for Jesus Christ (1:16b)

The purpose of God's creation of the heavens and the earth is, "Give me glory." The reason for redeeming man through Jesus Christ is also to glorify God's glory. (Ephesians 1:6,12,14) A Christian leader said, He said that people of faith should dream of evangelizing the whole world. ① You must be able to live with everyone. ② You must have the ‘ability’ to help everyone in the world. ③ We must dream of nurturing creative talents. ④ We must dream of a beautiful life serving our neighbors.

5. All things can stand together in Jesus Christ (1:17).

Christ upholds all things. The God who created them preserves them. Because of Christians, the world still exists in God's grace. Because of one Christian, the world must know that God's love is still there. Therefore, the revival of the church becomes a shortcut for the nation and nation. Jesus Christ is the Creator. I hope that his mysterious power of creation will continue to work in your lives as well.
