Title: God Who Dos a New Thing
Contents
God doing new things (Isaiah 43:18-21)
1. God who does new things
Verses 15-17. The savior is God.
Israel experienced God doing wonderful things in the Exodus.
God made a way in the water. He did a wonderful thing by removing a lot of water.
And this event is to be recorded, commemorated, and to be grateful for.
But Israel should not be satisfied with the grace of this Exodus.
Because God will do a new wonderful work of salvation. Praise and rejoice in God is not only in our past events, but also in our new ones.
Verses 18-20. A new and wonderful salvation will come from God.
Section 18. Do not remember the former things, do not think of the former things.
Don't dwell on past events. We should expect a new and more glorious future work of salvation.
Verse 19. I will do something new...
In the past, God accomplished salvation by making a way in the Red Sea.
Now God will do a great work of contrast, to bestow the saving grace of His power. It will be made by making a way in the barren wilderness and rivers in the desert upon their return from Babylonian captivity.
He who removes water is able to make water.
The one who gives birth is able to kill people.
The one who blesses can cause wrath.
God is omnipotent, and there is no limit to what He can do.
Therefore, it is right to expect the grace of God to do a new thing in the new day.
It is right to have hope in the new year to experience God's new grace.
2. Purpose of doing new things
Section 21. What is the purpose of salvation?
God created Israel for his glory.
And the salvation of Israel does not depart from this purpose. Salvation itself is not the ultimate goal, but God's glory through salvation.
In Exodus, God makes this clear to Pharaoh through Moses.
'Send my people... they will serve (worship) me' (Exodus 7:16/8:1, 8:20, 9:1, 9:13, 10:3)
[Ephesians 1:3-6] (3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. so that he may be holy and blameless before him in love...
