Old Testament
1. Protect me, O God, for in You I take refuge.
2. I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord, and I have no good besides you."
3. The saints of the earth are honorable; all my joy is in them.
4. Those who offer gifts to other gods will suffer more; I will not offer their blood drink offerings, nor will I call their names with my lips.
5. The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; you keep my portion.
6. The area that you have lined up for me is in a beautiful place; how beautiful is my inheritance.
7. Blessed be the LORD, who admonished me; night after night my conscience instructs me.
8. I have set the LORD always before me; I will not be shaken because he is at my right hand.
9. Therefore my heart rejoices, and my spirit rejoices, and my body also lives in safety.
10. For you will not leave my soul to Sheol, nor will you destroy your holy one.
11. You will show me the way of life; in Your presence is the fulness of joy, and at Your right hand are eternal joys.
new testament
14. It is like a man who goes to a foreign country and calls his servants to entrust his possessions.
15. They each gave one man five talents of gold, the other two talents, and the other one talent, according to their talents.
16. The one who received the five talents went right away and traded with them, leaving five more talents.
17. He who had received two talents did the same, and gained two more.
18. The one who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.
19. After a long time the master of the servants returned and settled accounts with them.
20. The one who had received the five talents brought five more and said, “Master, you have given me five talents; behold, I have gained five more.
21. And his master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful over a few things, I will entrust you with many things; enter into the joy of your master."
22. The one who had received the two talents also came and said, “Master, you have given me two talents; behold, I have gained two more.
23. And his master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant, for you have been faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master."
24. The one who had received the one talent came and said, “Master, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter.
25. I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. Behold, you have yours.
26. His master answered and said, "You wicked and lazy servant, did you know that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered?
27. Then you should have left my money with the money makers, and then I would have returned and received my principal and interest.
28. Take the one talent from him and give it to the one who has ten.
29. To everyone who has will be given and have an abundance, but from anyone who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
30. Cast this useless servant out into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
sermon
God delights in rewarding us. The Bible says that whoever comes to God must believe that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
(Hebrews 11:6) He says. God has already given us many gifts, because there is nothing we have that we have not received from Him. God has promised to give us a greater reward if we use our gifts, such as talent, time, and money, to do good things. How do we get a reward for using these things?
1. If you use the talents given to you, you will be rewarded. The master gave 5 talents, 2 talents, and 1 talent, respectively, according to the abilities of his servants. God has given each of us different talents, but no one has received them. Servants who did not use the talents they received were severely punished, and those who used them received great praise and rewards.
2. If you take the risk, you will be rewarded. The servant hid the talent he had received and did not use it, fearing failure, worrying about what to do if he accidentally lost it while using it. He saw danger as greater than possibility. But the Lord invites everyone to risk. If you take risks and spend money, you will be rewarded.
3. The more you have, the more you get. In the world, rich and poor is a problem, but spiritually, it is a blessing. After all, we were all spiritually bankrupt. It is God's will that those who have spiritual abundance will receive more. They are deserving of reward because they devoted themselves to God's grace and praise, looking at God's grace and praise.
What talents did you receive? If you have not yet found the precious treasure that has been given to you, pray that you will find it. If you find it, what do you use it for? It is right to use it for its owner. Faithful servants who use their talents in good works and work together in harmony will receive great rewards on this earth and in the eternal kingdom.
