Title: God Who Makes a New History

Contents

This text is the word given to the people of Israel before the new work was done. God told Israel to let go of the past. It is not easy for anyone to step out of the past. But God told us not to remember the things of the past and not to think about the things of the past. Why should we leave and break with the past?

Because the first past is gone.

The text is given in the darkest circumstances of the people of Israel. In a situation in which the nation was destroyed and captive, God planned a new work for Israel. In order to experience a new history, he told us to put off the old things and not remember the past. However, the unfortunate thing is that although God's promise of a new work was given, Israel was still bound by the past, so they did not see the glorious time of blessing that God opened up. None of us can live in the past. We can recall the past, but the time we have to live is in the future. If our eyes are fixed on the past, we cannot see the future. Sometimes God asks us to let go of our past. Because if you don't throw it away, you can't see the future. God's expectations and interests are not in the past. It is not God's will for us to cling to our past mistakes, past successes and glory. The place where God blesses us is in the future.

The second past, no matter how hard you try, can never be undone.

If you have the skill to undo the past, many people will want to undo the past. But God does not change the past. If you turned to the past, you would have turned around in the Garden of Eden. God does not turn back because He loves us. If we live a life that always looks back to the past, all mankind will lose the importance of the present. Cherish the opportunity, nor will you be grateful for what you have been given. If so, how much chaos and ruin will the world be plunged into? It is God's consideration to protect this world and to take on the present meaning of life that has made us live the present life. So spend your time on the irreversible and don't get attached to it. No matter how mournful and sad it is, the past is just the past. It is only a waste of life and a waste of time to try and regret the irreversible.

The third telling us not to remember the past is so that we can see the work of God's new creation.
