Title/ God Who Prepared Canaan
Text/ Exodus 11:1-10
Through the nine plagues, God showed that the process of the Exodus was being led by God.
▶The plague of blood ▶Frogs ▶Lite ▶Flies ▶Evil ▶Poisoning ▶Hail ▶Locusts ▶After the plague of darkness [the death of the firstborn], Pharaoh called Moses and made the people of Israel leave (12:31).
“You shall know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.” Verse 7
As the saying goes, it was the end of the Egyptian life of slavery for 430 years and set off for Canaan.
1, God who prepared us for life in the wilderness verses 1-2
When Joseph, who became prime minister by interpreting Pharaoh's dream, put grain into warehouses during the 7 years of abundance and sold food from various countries during the 7 years of famine, the brothers and father Jacob, who were staying in Canaan, moved to Egypt.
(Genesis 46:3-7) "I am God, the God of your father," said God. "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down with you into Egypt, and I will surely bring you up again." ”
He leads them who had been slaves in Egypt for 430 years, builds the tabernacle in the wilderness, is with them as a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day, and has them train for 40 years to recover their lost spirituality.
2, God who puts off the appearance of a servant verse 3
It is God's grace if the leader of the people they were serving as a servant seemed to be much bigger than Pharaoh.
(Exodus 12:36) "And the LORD made the Egyptians show favor to the people, to give them whatever they asked for, so they took the Egyptians' goods."
In the eyes of the Egyptians who had received God's grace, Moses, the leader of Israel, seemed far greater than their king.
(Exodus 12:38) “There was with them a great multitude of peoples, sheep and cattle, and exceedingly great livestock.”
This is evidenced by the fact that there are many people who have abandoned their own country, their king, and their own flesh and blood and followed Israel as slaves.
“You are of your father the devil” (John 8:44).
For the people of Israel, the past of being slaves to the devil was erased and their lives as children of God began.
(John 1:12) “To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
3, God grants Canaan only to those who are set apart, verses 4-7
“You shall know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.” Verse 7
God's distinction is so thorough that he separates the two paths so that good and evil cannot coexist.
1) Distinguish between positive people and negative people.
(Numbers 14:36-38) “Those who spoke evil against the land died by calamity before the LORD… and Joshua and Caleb survived.”
2) He distinguishes between wheat and chaff.
(Matthew 3:12) “He will take the rudder in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering the wheat into the barn, and burning the chives with unquenchable fire.”
3) He distinguishes between believers and non-believers.
(Mark 16:16) “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, and whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Blood is life. (Leviticus 17:11) The family with the blood of the Lamb applied to the lintels and left and right doorposts (Exodus 12:23) is protected.
