Title: Golden Poem/Psalm 16:8
Contents Golden Poem/Psalm 16:8
Key Verse: “I set the LORD always before me; I will not be moved because he is at my right hand.”
Word: This psalm is titled ‘David’s Mikdam’. Migdam is also interpreted as meaning ‘golden poetry’. Acts 2:25-31 quotes this psalm as it is and testifies of the resurrection of Christ. Broadly speaking, Migdam has three elements. It is a prayer in pain (verse 1), holy assurance (verses 2-8), and a song of joy and peace (verses 9-10). This is again divided into two parts: the earthly life of Christ in verses 1-7 and the passion and resurrection of Christ in verses 8-11. The life of Christ imputes righteousness to us, His death forgives our sins, and His resurrection grants us a new life of new life. Therefore, the life, death, and resurrection of Christ are at the heart of the gospel.
1. The principle of the life of Christ (verses 1-7)
Prayer: Thank God. Thank you for giving us new life through Jesus Christ and for treating us as treasures. Help us to become a family that follows Jesus Christ, who is the indicator of our lives. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
