Title: Good things should be shared

Contents

Example) The incident in K.L.

The background of chapter 6 in front of today's text is that Elisha learned all the information during the war between Israel and Syria, and the king of Aram was often frustrated.

At this time, the king of Syria suspects that there may be a spy inside. In the process, he learns of the existence of a prophet of God named Elisha, and attacks the city of Dothan where he is staying.

However, in prayer, we see the angel of God who is more powerful than the trained soldiers, and in the end, with God's help, we win the war.

However, after many years, King Ben-hadad of Syria mobilized a large army to surround and attack the city of Samaria, and as time passed, the food in the city fell, and the resulting increase in prices made it more difficult. It's possible.

When this happened, King Jehoram of Israel put all the blame on Elisha and tried to execute him, but Elisha knew first and told him not to bring into the house the man sent by the king.

Focusing on the text, we will deliver two parts: holding on to the Word and evangelism.

First, we live when we hold on to the Word.

Verse 1 “Elisha said, “Listen to the word of the Lord,” says the Lord. “Tomorrow at this time in Samaria, a shekel of fine flour will cost you a shekel, and two shea of barley will be a shekel.”

Hearing this, the minister said in a sarcastic tone, “If the Lord makes spears in the heavens, how can these things be?” (verse 2).

In response, Elisha says, “You will see with your own eyes, but you will not eat it.”

What Elisha said in verse 1 was actually a miracle.

The food shortage was so severe that the people in the city of Samaria said they should eat their children, and this caused the price increase to skyrocket without knowing it (2 Kings 6:25).

Eighty shekels of silver on a donkey head?

One shekel is the wages of a worker for four days.

So, assuming that I earn 50,000 won a day, one shekel is 200,000 won, and eighty shekels is 16 million won.

Moreover, the Israelites did not eat the donkey because it was unclean (Leviticus 11:4), and the head is not a good part to eat.

If you see that Hapbuntae (bean type) is also five shekels of silver, you can see how much food they were struggling with.

But what is Elisha saying in verse 1 now?

One shekel for one shea (7.3 liters) of fine flour and one shekel for two shea of barley are confidently said.

Compared with Kings 6:25, the price has been greatly reduced.

Total bomb sale, it can't get cheaper than this.

In a way, the minister's sarcastic tone will sound realistic and reasonable.

However, these words were not spoken by Elisha personally, but by Jehovah.

God's word does not change, not even one jot, one tittle, and will always be fulfilled.

Verse 16, “And the people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans, and it became a shekel for a sheaah of fine flour and a shekel for two sheaves of barley, just as the LORD had said.”

Verse 20, “And it was done to the captain, and the people trampled him in the gate, and he died.”

It was done literally.

Because God does not exaggerate and does not change, it must be fulfilled and fulfilled.

The only way we can win in the world is by holding on to the Word.

Second, good things should be shared.

Verses 9-10 “The lepers said to one another, “Our conduct is not good. Today is a day of good news, and we are silent. If we wait until bright morning, punishment will come upon us. Now, let’s leave and go to the palace and tell us.”

At last he went and called the gatekeeper of the city, and told them, "When we came to the camp of Syria, there was no one there, and there was no sound of a man, only horses and donkeys tied, and the tents were still there."

The four lepers died of starvation even if they were in the city anyway, so they would rather go out and eat and die.

God raised the sound of chariots and a great army, causing the Arameans to flee.

They think.

“Can we eat and drink like this?”

I think of the family and neighbors who abandoned them in the castle without knowing this fact.

And go and tell.

What is evangelism and missions?

It can be defined in many ways, but it is believed that the first step is to start from the heart of sharing good things.

How are we?

Even before the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ have cooled, aren't we heading for the wrong thing?

We must go to family, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, and friends who do not believe in Jesus.

If the four lepers had only known and enjoyed the beautiful news of liberation, millions of people would have starved to death.

Saints!

Share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people you meet in your daily life.

God will help them to breathe new life into their dying souls.

He will change their minds.
