Title: Graceful face care
Exodus (103) Graceful face management (Ex 34:29-35)
< Make your face shine >
After Moses was furious over the idolatry of the golden calf, he threw down the two stone tablets of the 10 commandments and broke them, and then Moses went up to Mount Sinai again. And secondly, after fasting for 40 days and bringing the two tablets of testimony down from Mount Sinai, Moses did not realize that his face was radiant because he had spoken to God (verse 29). God's glory was partially revealed to Moses because of his fellowship with God in the deep Word. In other words, a life deeply immersed in the Word was revealed with the light of the face. It implies that the Word is light and truth.
There are times in life when the Word appears as a realization that gives deep peace to the heart. At that time, you will be immersed in joy and joy, and your face will also brighten. In the same way, the light of truth illuminates the soul and illuminates the face. Why are the faces of the fortresses dark? Trials darken the face, and a life that is crushed by sin and desire overshadows it. At that time, when the light of truth shines in your heart through the Word, your face will become brighter too. True faith is also shown in the face of your face.
One day, on the train, a man was just shouting that he was preaching the gospel. He held the Bible in his hand and shouted hard, as if a detective was preaching the gospel. He looks like King Yeomra, glares at people and says, “Believe in Jesus!” But seeing that doesn’t make you want to believe in Jesus.
This is a scene I witnessed in college. One day, while riding the bus to school, an old man got on the bus. The grandfather said back and forth, “Repent! Heaven is near!” was hung on a large sign. And he looked at people and shouted. “If you don’t believe in Jesus, you’re a viper! Pharisees are vipers! You vipers!” Seeing them pouring such curses for a long time, even those who had faith became disillusioned. Saints must also take good care of their faces with grace.
<cover your face>
Such fellowship with God in the word of God shone on Moses' face, but the important thing was that Moses himself did not realize that fact (verse 29). If you achieve a deep encounter with God in the Word, your face will shine without realizing it. Try to shine naturally like that, but not artificially.
At that time, when Moses saw his face, Aaron and all the children of Israel were afraid to approach Moses (verse 30). When Moses called them, Aaron and all the elders of the congregation came to him, and Moses spoke with them (verse 31). Then all the children of Israel came near, and Moses commanded them all the words that God had given them at Mount Sinai (verse 32). After saying this, Moses covered his face with a towel (verse 33).
Why did you cover your face with a towel? It was a measure to prevent the people from being deceived by the brilliance of his face and obscuring the glory of God, and it was also a measure to prevent the possibility of neglecting the word of God that he preached. In such a situation, under all circumstances, put yourself first, and put God and the Word first. Be especially good at covering your face. They like to show their faces, and if they fall into self-image, they will end up unhappy.
At that time, Moses revealed his face when communing with God in the Word, but covered his face when he was living with the people (verses 34-35). Moses was not interested in making his face known in public. Since it is the era of self-PR, I am very interested in how to package and commercialize porcelain. So the wrapping paper is getting more and more flashy, but too much self-praise is a harbinger of unhappiness.
Some saints think secretly. “Who is as righteous as me? Who prays as much as I do? Who else is as dedicated as me?” Excessive pathological self-esteem. Even at the time of Jesus, the Pharisees, scribes, and priests had such morbid pride. In fact, a life of strict observance of their laws is something to be proud of. The problem is that pride is expressed as pathological pride that condemns others. Even if you have something to brag about, you should not boast about it to others.
Excessive self-esteem makes other people look boring, and you don't learn anything from others, you have stories to tell and nothing to listen to. It destroys the soul and destroys the blessings of tomorrow. Jesus veiled his own light and led them to life in a world of sinners. Have such a shining face always, but by covering your face in front of people, become blessed hearts that receive praise from God and praise from others.
