Title: Gratitude overcomes anxiety

Contents

Topic: Gratitude overcomes anxiety

Word: Matthew 17: 22-23

One study found that people laugh for 90 seconds a day and worry about 3 hours and 6 minutes a day. So, if a lifetime is 80 years, it is said that 30 days of laughter and 10 years of worry. I've been sleeping for 23 years in my life, but I spend about 55 years of my life with my eyes wide open, of which I spend 10 years worrying. Looking at it this way, worry is the main culprit that makes life sick. So, what kind of anxiety is this? The types of anxiety analyzed by 'Brian Tracy', who is called the master of success studies, were ranked and divided into six categories.

ranking of people's worries

#1 - Worry about things that haven't happened (about 40%)

ex : What if I am late for an appointment?

#2 - Worry about what happened in the past (about 30%)

ex: What if I didn't do well in the exam I took yesterday?

3rd place - Worry by worry (about 12%)

ex: What should I do if I have a serious illness?

4th - Minor worries (about 10%)

ex: What should I wear today?

#5 - Worries out of control (about 4%)

ex: if a comet collides with the earth

6th - Worry-like worries (about 4%)

Worry we really need to worry about

2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

A heart of fear is not a heart given by God. So, who gave you that heart? It is clearly a heart given by Satan. Do you have fear within yourself? Are you anxious about the future? If so, your heart is now under the control of Satan. Shout when fear comes into your heart. Back away, Satan who scares me. 2 Timothy 1:7 gives three keys to overcoming this fear. The first is ability. The English Bible niv translates to "spirit of power". It can be translated as spiritual strength, but I would like to translate this word as “courage.” The first key to overcoming the anxiety that begins with fear is courage. The courage the Bible speaks of is not the guts we think of. Let's find the courage the Bible speaks of. 1 Kings 2:2.

1 Kings 2:2 Now I am going the way of all the people of the world, so work hard to become

The background of this text is the time when Solomon succeeded David as king of Israel. This is the scene where David leaves his last will to Solomon. David's will is to tell Solomon to become the chieftain. In other words, be courageous like a man. David left these wills because Solomon was only about 12 years old. He became king at the age of 12. He was too young to rule the country. How afraid are you? Solomon must have seen the sky yellow. David tells Solomon to be brave. What do you have the courage to do? Verse 3 tells us to keep the word. The courage to overcome the fear of the Bible is to keep the word. No matter how the world goes, I live by the Word. It is not to be swayed by people's words, but to live by the word only. Is it easy to live like this? It's never easy. So it takes courage. Another aspect of courage seen through Solomon is 1 Kings 3:7.

1 Kings 3:7 O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of David, your father, but your servant is a little child, and does not know how to go in and out.

God appeared to Solomon in a dream when he offered a thousand burnt offerings to God and asked what he would give him. Solomon answers that question. However, I am too young to start an answer. I can't distinguish right from wrong. This is it. In other words, Solomon is now confessing his lack to God. This is what we call repentance. Solomon was about 20 years old at the time. The 20s are the time of such a storm and rage, trying to achieve something with one's own strength. But at that age, Solomon honestly faces himself. And confess your shortcomings and ask for God's help. This is the courage the Bible speaks of. To face ourselves is to realize our own shortcomings and honestly ask God for help.

Is there any difference between Solomon's prayer and yours? Most people do not face themselves and confess through prayer, but bargain with God. If God helps me, I will build a church and do missions.... This type of prayer is not prayer, but bargaining. God is the object of faith, not the object of bargaining. To be honest with God, this is courage.

The second key to overcoming anxiety is “love.” Let's look at 1 John 4:18 in the Bible.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, for fear has a penalty, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

The text above says that fear has a penalty. I think the punishment that fear inflicts is anxiety. To overcome anxiety, you must cast out fear. To do that, you need love. The question is, what is love and where to find it. If we think of this problem in reverse, the person who lives with fear and worries has no love. The place that love has been taken away from is replaced by discontent, murmuring, reproach, and self-pity. Think about it. You cannot love with complaints, complaints, and criticism. Fear, worry, and worry are always accompanied by complaints, dissatisfaction, and criticism. In other words, if there is love, there is no complaints and complaints, and if there is no complaints and complaints, there is no fear. And drive away anxiety. If so, we must first get rid of the grievances and accusations in us. Only then can you fill your heart with love. What is the secret to overcoming complaints, complaints, and accusations? Let's look at 1 Thessalonians 5:18 in the Bible.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Let's read this text in the priest Satanic version.

Complain about everything, for this is Satan's will for you in the devil.

Let's take a look at Choi Yeon-chang's article, which was contributed with a good idea.

Thank you.

I am grateful for being able to wake up in the morning.

Thank you for being able to eat deliciously.

Grateful that the family is struggling and living together

I am grateful to be able to work without getting sick.

Thank you for arguing with the three kittens in the flower bed next door.

Thank you for being able to see the beautiful yellow roses on the wall.

Thank you for being able to see the blue sky.

Thank you for being able to hear the birds chirping

I appreciate being able to meet and talk to people.

Thank you for making me laugh.

Thank you for having a place to dwell and rest at night.

Thank you for being able to pray every day.

There are things to be grateful for in the small things of everyday life.

I will live with joy. with gratitude

I have to live.

Written by Choi Yeon-chang <Good Thought>

Let's read this article in Satan's version.

complains.

Another boring day begins and I complain.

They complain that breakfast is on grass.

They complain that there are so many people in a small room and they don't give me a spacious house.

They complain that they can't rest even if they work.

He complains about having trouble sleeping at night because of the stray cat that cries at night.

The fence is infested with yellow roses, mites and complains.

Blue sky, hot weather, no rain complains.

Birds complain about chirping and bird droppings on cars.

People are gathering and complaining that I think they are gossiping about me.

They complain because they have more worries than laughter.

I complain that there is nothing I can pray for every day.

I have something to complain about even in the small things of everyday life.

I have to live with worry.

I have to live with anxiety.

Complaining brings sorrow and gratitude brings love. A life of gratitude and a life of complaint are not different in circumstances. It is the same environment, but depending on the way you look at the environment, you can live with gratitude or with only complaints.

Would you like to live your whole life in the trap of worry and complaints and dissatisfaction? Or will I live by loving the circumstances given to me with a grateful heart? The choice is up to you.

Many people decide to live with gratitude, but they quickly live a life full of complaints and complaints. Why does it fall apart so easily? How can we build unbreakable love and courage? This is what 2 Timothy 1:7 teaches us, which is “a sober heart,” which is the final key to overcoming anxiety. The English Bible niv translates the sober mind as "self-discipline." Literally translated, it means “train yourself.” After all, courage and love are not created or maintained by themselves, but are created and maintained through training.

There is an article about training on the Internet, so I'll read it.

The three keys to overcoming anxiety are courage, love, and discipline. If you tell me to make a universal key that binds the three keys together, I would say thank you. Thank you for everything. Be grateful for what you get through your day today without effort. Heaven, flowers, wind, people, house, family... Gratitude will flow naturally when you realize that what you have achieved without effort is far more than what you have earned through hard work.

I hope that you will become a Christian who overcomes worries with gratitude for the rest of your life.
