Greed (Mark 12:1-12)

Today's sermon is also called the <parable of the vineyard>, <the parable of the vineyard owner>, or <the parable of the evil farmer>.

The center of the Word changes depending on which point is used.

(1) Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “A man planted a vineyard and put a hedge around it, dug a winepress, built a tower, rented it to farmers, and went to a foreign country.

One man makes a vineyard. They dug up the ground, picked stones, and planted a vineyard with all their heart. And he chose good vines and planted them, made a press for the press, built a fence and built a tower. After making this vineyard with great care, he gave it to the peasants for a small fee.

At that time, farmers usually did not have their own land. It is truly a great grace and blessing to be entrusted with such a vineyard to those who are living day by day.

These farmers must have worked hard, thanking their owners for their grace, and promised their owners over and over again that they would pay their rent well and tended the vineyards.

(2) When the time came, he sent a servant to the peasants to receive some of the produce of the vineyard.

The word "how much" here means very little money in Greek.

Therefore, rather than saying that he received it because he needed money, it was a ritual to confirm who the owner of this vineyard was, and in reality, this vineyard was almost given as a gift.

And the owner sent a servant to check the vineyard and also to receive the rent.

But the farmers' minds have changed. I loved the vineyard so much that I wanted to make it mine. Let's see what happens when greed comes in.

In verse 3 we see that he beat the servant and sent him away.

In verse 4, he cuts his head and insults him.

Hakkashita

Verse 5 kills, beats, and kills.

This is what we look like.

God sent many prophets over and over again to reap the fruits of Israel's repentance and righteousness, but they were humiliated, wounded, and killed.

Nevertheless, our God trusts the farmers and sends his only son.

(6) Rather, there was one man, his beloved son, who sent him the last time, saying, “My son will be honored.”

そその person is, そのひとりの 者がita.re is Suru 息子であtta.ha, 『私の息子』,敬ttakureruだろう.

Did you really think your son wouldn't be in danger so he sent him there?

That's what we expect because we love our farmers.

To believe is to expect.

So I give you one more chance.

Many people today say a lot of strange things that are not even in the Bible.

People are objects of love, not objects of faith! Only believe in God~~!!

a If you believe in God, please believe in the church and members of God where the Spirit of God comes on.

Faith, hope, love, any one of them disappears, but that church cannot become a healthy church.

I hope that you and I will trust you once more and give you one more chance.

God our Father not only loves humans but also believes in them.

Jesus also believed in the 12 disciples until the very end, and today the owner of the vineyard also trusted the farmers and sent his beloved son.

He said that if he knew that he was my son, he would respect him. But when he found out that he was my son, he tried to kill him because of the inheritance problem.

(7-8) And the farmers said to one another, This is the heir, let us kill it, and the inheritance will be ours. So they caught him and killed him and threw him outside the vineyard.

He didn't kill him because he didn't know he was a son, but because he knew he was a son.

Knowing that he was the heir of the vineyard, he deliberately killed him and tried to take the land.

It is the image of farmers repaying their favor with their enemies.

Those who try to live their lives with greed pour out the fruits of their sins in such a place where they should be thankful.

Those who live their lives only with their own greed have no room for the Word of God.

A vineyard should be a field where grapes are abundantly enjoyed and shared.

However, the reason why it became a scene of murder and wrath due to greed is because the owner has forgotten the sovereignty of the master.

Do you think you are the owner of the place where you live now?

If that is the case, then they are no different from the farmers coming out today.

We pray in the name of Jesus that we do not forget that the Lord of our lives is God.

The peasants knew all too well that the man they had killed was their master's son.

The same is true of the church today.

It is not that you are not good at church life because you do not know the Word.

It is because I know the Word, but greed is blocking me from obeying.

(10) The stone which you rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.

Family を建てる tachi no 見捨てita stone,

This verse is from Psalm 118:22.

If greed blocks their eyes, even a veteran builder will throw away precious stones that can be used as headstones.

dear saints

Greed is not a vision. Greed is not wish.

If we take greed in our hands, gratitude will be far away and sharing will disappear.

I hope that you will not become a fool who repeats the image of Adam who succumbed to temptation and touched the tree of good and evil with greed.

All we have to do is to harvest the grapes from the vineyards we have given them and share them with gratitude.

I bless you in the name of Jesus to be me and you who thank the Lord for this day and share it with our neighbors with generous love.
