Growth through education Matthew 4:23-25 Dec 5 Sunday afternoon worship
1. It should be a modernized cultural education.
For today's children and youth, culture is more important than bread. In order to save children who are accustomed to popular culture, education at the level of cultural missions must be emphasized. The church has to be not only a watcher of culture, but also a guide or a leader. As church education using modern multi-media creates a leading Christian culture, cutting-edge cultural education should be achieved and the church should rescue children living in secular culture through it.
2. It should be the Trinity education of the church, home, and school.
Our children spend most of their time not at church, but first at school and other private academies, and then at home. Therefore, the church must play the role of a catalyst that connects the home and the school. It must first make people realize what it is like to be a human being through spiritual education, and then it must help them to harmoniously carry out character education at home and intellectual education at school. Christian education should come first.
3. Community education should be strengthened.
It is true that the world education focused on entrance exams has produced the result of selfishness and individualism that makes everyone the object of competition. However, the importance of church education is emphasized, and the education of the body, which constitutes the whole, should be emphasized as church education is aimed at becoming an education based on a common destiny that loves and builds up each other and considers others better than others. Therefore, it is necessary to aim for ‘intergenerational education’ that transcends the age gap.
4. It is necessary to revitalize the Sunday School for seniors.
I don't know when, but we can see that each church has changed to a tendency to limit church education to children and youth. Even when I was young, until the end of the 70's, the target of education included the young and old. However, education for seniors gradually disappeared. In fact, in the case of the United States, it can be seen that the reason why Southern Baptist Church has emerged as the largest denomination in the world is due to the success of Senior Sunday School. Therefore, it is necessary to lay the foundation for quantitative growth along with the development of education as we expand the scope of parent education beyond Bible study for adults by activating Sunday School for adults, or expand the scope of church education to middle-aged or old age.
5. It is necessary to secure education experts.
6. The focus is on spiritual productivity and church growth.
Rather than a program or activity itself as a goal, it is important that all educational processes, whether for children or adults, lead to the growth and revival of the church. For this purpose, I think it is desirable to break away from the concept of department and develop and operate it as a “church within the church” concept, such as children's churches, youth churches, youth churches, elder churches, and old-age churches.
Yeongdo Central Church is going with this system, and it is said that it is operating well now.
Anyway, in the new year, our church will create a church that fulfills the three major missions of worship, education, and evangelism (mission) in a balanced way, and by creating high-quality religious education and educational culture, I pray that it will become a church that grows both qualitatively and quantitatively. do.
