Title: Guilt/Luke 23:39-43

Contents Guilt / Luke 23:39 - 43

One of the most important things Christianity has inherited from Judaism is a sense of guilt. This is the idea that I am a sinner before God. This is something that ordinary people in the world do not have, and it is not so strongly expressed in other religions. Guilt is not meant to bind us, but to bring us to complete freedom.

A good example of such a teaching is the story of an evildoer who was saved when Jesus Christ died on the cross. Knowing that Jesus Christ had the power to forgive, he acknowledged his sin and asked for forgiveness. As a result, permission was granted to enter Paradise. Some may view this as an opportunist, but the most important thing I want to say through this incident is to acknowledge one's sins and convey the attitude of repentance.

At such a time, I would like to think about the state of guilt of Koreans. Moreover, this week includes one of the country's most shameful days, Gyeongsul Gukchi Day. This is very important because it is not only a personal matter but also a matter of the fate of the country. However, it seems that no one really took responsibility for this and confessed their sins. Even in our lives today, there are too many times when this is not our business.

Liberation Day is not very happy because our faults and shame are not properly recognized. Those who do not feel shame do not know honor, and those who do not understand sin cannot know the joy of liberation. We should know that those who do not think about the problems of the country have no personal future.

Now, as Christians in Korea, it is our responsibility to correct the faults of this country and lead a hopeful country. This means that we must first acknowledge our guilt for the faults of the individual and the country, repent of this, and prepare for a new leap forward. Moreover, when the country is in chaos and the people are confused, the responsibility we have to bear is too great. It is the time to fulfill the precious duties that God gives us and serve as salt and light.
