Title: Tears of Happiness

Text: Psalm 126:5

God loves the tears we shed.

1. Tears of repentance move us.

According to Mark 14:72, Peter, who had denied Jesus three times, heard the crowing of a rooster and went out, and Peter wept. Realizing his sin of denying the Lord and seeking his own way, Peter wept. In Luke 7:38, a woman who had sinned came to Jesus and wept, wet his feet with her tears and anointed him with perfume.

2. Tears shed in the face of death moved Jesus.

In John 11:33-35, in the face of Lazarus' death, his sisters Martha and Mary weep and weep. Their tears made even Jesus weep. In Luke 7:11-16, when Jesus saw the tears of the widow of Nain weeping in the face of her son's death, Jesus was moved and raised the son.

3. Tears for unbelievers have the power to save.

In Luke 23:27-28, while going to die on the cross, Jesus said, “Weep not for me, but weep for you and your children.” According to 2 Corinthians 2:4, Paul shed many tears for the church in Corinth, which was succumbed to the temptations of heretics.

4. Tears bring reconciliation.

Read Genesis 33. His younger brother Jacob deceived his older brother Esau to take away his birthright, and he was afraid of his older brother, so he ran away to his uncle's house and lived for many years. When the time came, his younger brother Jacob, who had to return to his hometown, hesitated because he was afraid of his older brother, but eventually crossed the Jabbok River to meet his older brother Esau. In verse 33:4, “Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, kissed him, kissed him, and wept together.” Two brothers, who had been separated like enemies for decades after having their birthright deprived and taken away, met and shed tears of reconciliation.

5. Tears bring forgiveness.

Genesis 45:1-2 is the story of Joseph's tears. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold to Egypt at a young age, where he lived as a slave in someone else's house. He was unfairly imprisoned and spent a long time in blood and tears, and with God's help, he became the Prime Minister of Egypt. Even his career could not help his longing for his father and brothers. The moment he saw his brothers, all his sorrow turned to tears, and he wept. It was said that all the Egyptians heard how sad and loud his weeping was and that even the royal palace could hear him. His tears were tears of forgiveness and tears of longing.

We hope that the Chuseok holiday will be a holiday in which scattered families and neighbors shed tears of forgiveness and reconciliation. Tears move God, touch our hearts, and warm the world. Be a Christian with tears.
