Contents
Happy are those who give thanks (Job 1:20-22)
Happiness is directly proportional to gratitude. As the Greek philosopher Aristotle said, "Happiness belongs to those who are grateful," a person can live happily as much as he is grateful.
I. Who is Job?
1. A champion of thanksgiving (Job 1:1). The burnt offering is a sacrifice of devotion. Job thanked God for His grace in everything (Job 1:5).
2. His family was a very prosperous family with seven sons and three daughters. There, Job's life was prosperous. However, one day the messenger of calamity and death attacked Job (Job 1:13-19).
Ⅱ Job's Faith
1. Worship-centered life (verse 20)
(1) When we worship, we need an attitude of worship.
(2) Psalm 100 is a psalm of thanksgiving and worshiping in thanksgiving. Verse 4, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving" means 'begin everything with thanksgiving'. Even though Job lost all his children, all his possessions, his health, and his family, he did not give up on worship. And finally, through true repentance, I received double the blessings than before. In fact, Job had no idea that God had allowed Satan to test him. Later, it is said that Job's patience is the attitude of faith that we must imitate in the last days (James 5:11).
2. A life that acknowledges the sovereignty of God (verse 21)
(1) This confession of Job is a confession of faith in God's absolute sovereignty.
(2) We can overcome our sufferings only when we learn to interpret our sufferings as God's grace.
3. A life of gratitude (verse 22)
(1) Job was thankful that he did not sin and that he did not complain against God even though he suffered disasters.
(2) Find reasons to be grateful for everything in your life.
In any case, I hope you live your life worshiping God. I wish you victory in worship. And in any case, acknowledge and praise the sovereignty of God. Thank you. I believe that God will bring blessings even in difficult times.
