As a church season, we are celebrating Advent (Advent? Advent). This feast refers to the four-week period before Christmas, the reverent preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ and the commemoration of the birth of Jesus.
Christmas carols are playing on every street, and the bells of the Salvation Army charity pots are ringing to deliver love to the marginalized in our society.
Perhaps the joy of this Christmas cannot be fully expressed by the chorus of countless angels.
As you are well aware, many people think of Santa Claus when it comes to Christmas. That's why the indispensable thing in Christmas songs are songs featuring Santa Claus.
“You can’t cry! Don't cry! Santa Claus doesn't buy presents for crying children."
Most children look forward to Christmas while singing these songs. But really, the Christmas song we should sing is not like that.
In today's text, God speaks through the prophet Zephaniah.
Zep 3:14 “Oh! Daughter of Zion! sing O Israel, shout joyfully. Daughter of Jerusalem, rejoice and be glad!”
May you and I rejoice and praise the birth of Jesus Christ.
But what makes us happy and rejoicing?
Zeb 3:15 "The LORD has stopped judging you, and has cast out your enemies. The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you, and you will not fear any more harm."
That's right. Please believe that the reason we are happy and joyful is because God is among us. In the name of Jesus, I earnestly pray for you to praise the Almighty God who is with us even at this time.
So, who is God among us?
First, the God in our midst is God Emmanuel. - Verse 17
Zeb 3:17 "The LORD your God is with you. The God of might will deliver you. The Lord will rejoice in you, and you will rest in your love. He will see you and sing and rejoice."
Matthew 1:23 “Look! The virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and people will call him Immanuel. Immanuel means God with us.”
When we are sad, he is with us in sorrow. If we are happy, He will rejoice with us.
Praise God, Emmanuel, who helps us when we are in pain, who suffers with us and encourages us to persevere. Such praise is the happy song given to us through today's text.
What is true happiness? And what is the truly happy song? Observing every move in my and all of your lives, wherever we go, wherever we are, what we do, or what we think, God is always the God of Immanuel, so we can be happy and sing a happy song You can offer (praise) to God.
Please believe that you came to the manger in Bethlehem 2000 years ago to be with us. So, where is God now?
You are still with us today. So there is nothing to fear. Please believe that Jesus is the God who came to this earth to be with us forever.
John 14:8 "Philip said, Lord, show us the Father. That is enough for us."
9 “Jesus answered. Philip, I have been with you for so long, and you still do not know me? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say to us, show us the Father! ?"
That's right. Perhaps the figure of Philip is not what we are living today.
Dear members of the White Stone Church! Let's meet the God who is with us at this time. I ask you to meet the God of Immanuel. Therefore, I earnestly pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will lead a truly happy life of faith and always sing happy songs (praises).
Second, I want you to believe that the God who dwells among us is the Almighty who will give us salvation. - Verse 19
Zeb 3:19 "Behold, I will punish all those who harmed you at that time. I will rescue my wounded people. I will gather my scattered people, and I will bring them glory and praise in all places where they have been put to shame."
Matthew 1:21 “Mary will give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will save his people from their sins.”
As you all know, the meaning of the name Jesus is ‘the One who will save his people from their sins’.
Please believe that our Jesus is the Almighty who will give us salvation.
As Jesus and his disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee in a boat, a great tumult arose in the sea and a wave engulfed the boat.
Jesus was tired and was sleeping on the stern.
When the disciples wake Jesus up, they shout at the whale whale.
“Lord! save us We will die.”
What did Jesus say? “Why are you afraid? You of little faith!”
When Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea, it became very calm.
Jesus is the Savior who saves us.
While Jesus was busy going to visit, a woman who had been suffering from bleeding for 12 years came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of Jesus' clothes.
Jesus looked around the people who had gathered there and said,
“Who touched my clothes?”
“Oh, Jesus! Who said that he touched Jesus' clothes? There were so many people pushing and pushing each other, and then they touched Jesus' body, right? Who would dare to touch the body of Jesus?” “No. Power has gone out of me.”
others don't know But Jesus, you knew.
The woman is terrified of Jesus' words and trembles, knelt before Jesus and confessed.
“Jesus, I am sorry. Actually I did. I am a dirty woman who bleeds without skipping a day since 12 years ago. From what I heard, I believed that Jesus could heal me because he was the Son of God who had great power. But Jesus is so busy, how can he take care of even a lowly woman like me? So, I did it because I wanted to be saved by just touching the mantle of Jesus in my heart. please forgive me."
Let's follow what Jesus said as he turned to the woman.
Matthew 9:22 “Take heart, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”
In the present age we live in, many people are at risk.
Thousands of people are dying from the disease.
Thousands of people have fallen into sin and are dying.
Third, God in our midst is the shepherd who will guide us. - Verse 20
Zep 3:20 “At that time I will gather you. I will bring you back home. I will give you glory and praise among all the peoples of the earth. All this will happen when I restore you before your eyes. and the LORD has spoken.”
I sincerely pray that you believe that Jesus is our shepherd.
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
14 "I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep recognize me."
Before becoming king, David knew the relationship between sheep and a shepherd better than anyone because he had been a shepherd for a very long time as a boy.
Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.”
2 "He makes me rest in green pastures. The LORD leads me to still waters to rest."
3 "He refreshes me. For the sake of his name, the Lord leads me in the path of righteousness."
4 "Even if I pass through the bleak valley of death, I am not afraid, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff are my strong protection."
5 “You set a table for me in the sight of my enemies, and you anoint my head with fragrant oil, and fill my cup to overflowing.
God."
6 "The goodness and love of the LORD must be with me until the day I die. Now I will live in the house of the LORD forever."
I hope that David's confession at this time today will be the earnest confession of you and me. We earnestly confess the Lord God who gives us peace, protects, strengthens us, gives us true rest, leads us in the path of righteousness, gives us true salvation before our enemies, and fills our cups so that we do not lack. In the name of Jesus Christ, I earnestly pray for you to live a life of walking with you and to give you a truly happy life of faith and a happy song (praise).
Let us now conclude the sermon.
Dear members of the White Stone Church!
The God in our midst is Emmanuel God with us.
The God in our midst is the Almighty God who will deliver us from our sins.
The God in our midst is the shepherd who will guide us and reward us.
Even at this time, God in our midst is watching each of us.
And he is so happy and happy because of us that he doesn't know what to do.
Some are discouraged and others are in disappointment. Some people complain that no one loves me. These days, there are people who complain that they are going to die because the Gyeonggi-do is not good and the business is not good.
However, I hope you will listen to God's word during this time.
Zep 3:16 “Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Don't be discouraged that you can't do anything."
Don't be disappointed. I hope you have the courage and strength to rise again. So, I earnestly pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you and I will be able to offer a truly happy life of faith and happy songs (praise) to God through our lives until Jesus comes again.
