Title: Have a Weeping Heart of Jesus
Contents
Topic: Have a Weeping Heart of Jesus
Word: Mark 14:32-34
[Last night leaving the attic]
1. After leaving the upper room, Jesus led his disciples to the east along the Kidron Valley and then to the north.
* Right there? The tombs of priests, prophets, and commoners lie facing Jerusalem.
Kidron Valley - Also called "Valley of Jehoshaphat".
(Joel 3:12) - It says it will be “the place of the final judgment.”
“Let the nations arise and go up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. I will sit there and judge all the nations on all sides.>
Kidron Valley?
It is a place where all the peoples of the earth will one day gather to be judged by Jesus, who is walking on a dark road with his disciples on a terrible night.
<Jesus knew this too>
[Speaking of recovery in spite of the failure of betrayal]
1. Who is Jesus in <The Last Supper>?
- He prophesied that one of his disciples would betray him.
- You knew and knew that <everyone> would abandon you while you were walking.
- Peter will deny, and the greatest sorrow is <betrayal and abandonment> and <knowledge, being denied> by his closest friends.
2. Nevertheless, what comfort can we find?
** There was <The Lord's Comfort and Forgiveness> for the sinful people.
Not because of the fact that even Jesus' closest disciples failed, but because he knew ahead of time and knew what would happen after that.
(Mark 14:28) <After I rise again, I will go to Galilee before you.>
He knew that he would fail and run away, but he also foretold <recovery>, and even though the disciples had abandoned him, <Jesus accepted again>.
- This promise is still the same today.
[Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane]
1. If you look at the Kidron Valley from the bottom of the Mount of Olives, there is <Garden of Gethsemane>.
* Now there is <Church of the Nations>.
Pilgrims still meet a <rock> here.
At least, because it is said that Jesus prayed there.
2. Inside the olive grove, there must have been a <olive oil> press.
* <Oil press> means <Gethsemane> right here.
(John 18:2) <It is the place where Jesus often comes with his disciples>
(Luke 22:39) <The place where you prayed according to your custom>
** Why did Jesus go here to pray?
- Because the forest is beautiful, - Because I can see the temple mountain well, - Is it because of the prophecy about the Messiah?
- Because it is peaceful and quiet,
But most importantly?
Jesus came to this place to pray regularly, and he came to this place at the most agonizing moment.
3. What did Jesus ask for in the Garden of Gethsemane?
There is only one thing, <watch and pray>.
* What did Jesus want with his three disciples (Peter, James, and John)?
No advice or encouragement? It means <Please stay with us>.
* Matthew testifies of Jesus!
<He was worried and sad>
<My heart is troubled to death; stay here and stay awake with me.>
<He fell face down on the ground>
- When he came to the disciples, <He found him sleeping>
He says to Peter, "Couldn't you have stayed awake like this for an hour with me?"
[Application] - When Jesus wants us to wake up and pray, are we not asleep <like the disciples who are asleep>?
[Why are you in such anguish? ]
1. Jesus on the cross was the <Lamb> who took away the sins of the world, and God was <separated> from Jesus.
** Did God really turn his <face> away from Jesus?
Jesus himself made his own decision and became the “professional sacrifice between God” and “humankind”.
2. Jesus' voluntary choice, not <God turned his face>.
** Rather, Jesus, who was in pain, saw it with love and pity.
Then why did Jesus suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane?
First, because I was offered the freedom to let go of suffering.
1. The Garden of Gethsemane incident faces the greatest crisis since the 40-day trial in the wilderness.
<Whispers of the Devil>
- <Are you sure that you are really the Son of God? Otherwise, you are just wasting your life in vain.>
- <Does God really want his son to die?>
- <You have misunderstood the will of God>
- <Do you really believe that there is no other way than this?>
- <You are only 33 years old, how many things do you still want to do? Avoid it now. There is still time
2. How easy would it be to <justify> the decision to avoid the cross?
* The longer you live, the more sick you can be healed.
Moreover, the Lord must have been disappointed with the <sleeping appearance> to such an extent that the disciples were not satisfied with their hearts.
Nevertheless, he did not even <move> and continued to carry out God's work.
[Application] - My life justifies me now and I am not living a religious life!
Second, he suffered because he knew the destruction of Jerusalem. (Cry for the world)
1. The mistakes of the Jewish leaders were not simply a religious mistake, but the existence of the Israeli community.
** After the death of Jesus, the search for <Another Military Messiah> continued.
Something? Look how they try to find other alternatives!
When we face a limit, we often try to replace <an alternative> other than the Lord with it.
2. According to Jesus' prophecy, in the 30th year of the resurrection, over 1 million Jews were thoroughly killed and collapsed.
** Jesus already knew that.
The holy city was no longer seen in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The <The Temple to Be Destroyed> had already been seen.
<Jerusalem, where every stone falls on every stone.> Holy Temple - For the church, weep for the world.
