Title: Have the Heart of Jesus Christ
Contents
What is your religious life? The life of faith can be said to be the first thing to control our hearts.
However, there is nothing as deceitful as the human heart. Why? Because of the consequences of sin.
Therefore, we should continue to guard our hearts so that they are not affected by sin and, on the contrary, strive to yield our hearts to faith and the full indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I hope that God's special grace will be with all of you who are here today to strengthen the foundation work of your heart.
It's hard to start with anything, but it's easier to follow. The path of the pioneers is difficult, but the steps of those who follow are light. Jesus endured great suffering in order to pave the way to heaven. However, now all we need to do is to follow the well paved path that Jesus has given us.
May we always be grateful to Jesus for setting an example for us. Today's text, Philippians 2:5, tells us. “Have this heart in you. the heart of Christ Jesus.”
What kind of heart is the heart of Jesus Christ that we are talking about in the text?
1. It is a holy heart that has nothing to do with sin.
1 Peter 2:22 says, “He sinned not, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” Among all religions in the world, there is no religion that points out the problem of sin as sensitively as Christianity. It's because if you don't address the most fundamental problem, everything will just become a mess.
Hebrews 4:15 says, “We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.”
Do you think temptation is directly related to sin? That's not true. Such thoughts are nothing more than a sense of defeat mixed with self-help of a weak soul who has always succumbed to sin. Why did Jesus die on the cross? It was to save us from the sense of defeat for such sins so that we could be victorious. Therefore, spiritually, we must no longer live a cowardly life of submissiveness, but a life of proudly fighting against sin. That is the first step in a life devoted to the glory of the Lord, not in vain.
There was no room for sin in Jesus' heart. Only because he was filled with the holy and perfect love of God. May your heart be filled with the love of God. Let your heart be filled with the influence of the Holy Spirit through praise and prayer always. Then, like the Triune God, your heart will soon change to that of Jesus.
2. The soul is a loving heart.
In Luke 19:10, the Lord said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Jesus' interest in earthly ministry was focused solely on saving the world and restoring God's people. We should be able to think of the things that Jesus considered the most important to us. I hope you pay attention to the souls of those around you.
There was a woman who had several suicide attempts. Her boyfriend, who loved her so much, drove her to a therapist and said: “Teacher, please heal this woman I love. I will do anything to cure this woman. She deserves it.” That's right. After all, in his eyes, she looked so lovely. As our Lord sees, so do we.
Among all things in the world, the most blessed thing is to save souls and gain them. “Even the angels will admire what the Lord has asked of me.” Even angels cannot do this, and only humans can do this. Do not forget that Jesus calls us “fishers of men.”
3. It is the heart of perfect sacrifice.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Jesus gave everything for God and for us. The Lord did the work with all his might. He even said, “Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” (Luke 9:58). Philippians 2:6-7 says this. “He was in the form of God, but did not consider equality with God something to be robbed, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, and became in the likeness of men.” Jesus could have lived a more splendid life than any other king in the world if he wanted to. However, knowing that such a life could never have the value of life, he gave up on himself and pioneered the path of true life even though it was difficult and painful.
Jesus did not live for honor. Let go of the illusion of fame. You're leaving only three names in the world, but would you risk your life?
Jesus did not seek his own gain. To be successful, you have to give up your selfish heart and live with an altruistic heart.
Jesus did not take complacency. Laziness is a sin. It's an attitude to turn the wheel of time backwards. Our life is a constant effort to drive out laziness.
I hope that your appearance can reveal the glory of God. Do you know Lee Ji-seon, who delivers a message of hope to people even though her face and body are horribly distorted by burns? You should be able to reveal your true inner spirituality and personality on your face, not your makeup. To do that, you need to pay more attention to the life of good deeds that God desires rather than good cosmetics or beauty salons. May your face resemble the face of the merciful Lord.
I hope you will strive to reveal the glory of God in everything you do. I hope you will be stewards of your property. Make your home a house where only Jesus is served. I believe that the Lord will repay you for all your devotion and sacrifice.
4. A compassionate heart.
This is Matthew 8:16-17. “At evening, people brought many demon-possessed people to Jesus, and Jesus cast out demons with the word and healed all the sick, because as he said through the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. to achieve the .”
The Lord has always comforted and healed the weak, the sick, and the poor and became their friend. I believe that when you have a compassionate heart like the Lord, your life will be enriched.
5. It is the heart of absolute obedience to God's will.
In Matthew 26:39, the night before His death on the cross, while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. But, not as I will, but as you will.” Like the Lord, I hope you have faith to obey God's will, even if it's difficult for me to handle sometimes. Please do your best to obey all the commands of God written in the Bible.
Acknowledge the providence of God in control of my life. Keep in mind that all my relationships with people I meet are not accidental, and all are in God's plan.
When I was a kid, it was really fun to go on a picnic and go on a treasure hunt. I hope that you will always live with joy in finding the providence of God hidden in your life with the heart of a treasure hunt.
Don't start by complaining that it doesn't fit with my heart, and I would like you to practice obedience to God's will first. If you do, I believe you will see the results of satisfactory training.
6. It is a patient heart.
1 Peter 2:23. “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to him who judges righteously.” There was no revenge in Jesus' heart. Because he had absolute trust in God's justice. This is also the mind we should have.
This is Isaiah 53:7. “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb to the slaughter, and a sheep silent before its shearers, he did not open his mouth.”
The Lord set an example for us through what He suffered for us on the cross. He endured and tolerated any insult and ridicule. A whip or a spear or a nail could bruise the Lord's flesh, but not His holy heart. I hope that you will have the holy heart of the Lord that is not broken by the world in your hearts.
Conclusion. In Matthew 11:29 the Lord said: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart. Then you will find rest for your hearts.” I sincerely pray that great grace will be with you who want to emulate the heart of the Lord.
