Title: Have You Met God?
Today's verse is about the meeting with God of Jacob, the ancestor of the nation of Israel.
I. Jacob before meeting God
1. A person who lives in his own way
? Read Genesis 27:18-19. “… Who are you, my son? Jacob answered his father, I am Esau, your son... ”
? Jacob is a person who will do everything he can to achieve his goals.
Why? Self-centered person - All before meeting God.
2. A person possessed by fear
? He got everything he wanted to get. Still, the fear could not be overcome.
Why? It is fear without God.
II. Jacob Meets God
1. I fell on my face before God.
? Let's read 23-24. “… Jacob was left alone...”
Jacob had known God for many years, but had never met God.
Now he was left alone and fell on his face before God.
? Everyone must meet God. They are always strangers until they truly meet.
Do you have a craving? Read Psalm 42:1. “As a deer longs for streams, so my soul longs for you, O God.”
? Praise, let's be together.
“Like a thirsty deer wandering in search of a stream/ My soul thirsts to find you/ You alone are my strength, my shield, my true hope/ I worship the Lord with all my heart.”
2. I didn't know how to back off.
? Jacob did not give up even when his hip bone broke. Read 25.
? Let's read verse 26. “… let me go... I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
? In order to meet God, it is okay to break the hip bone.
Ⅲ. Jacob After Meeting God
1. Broken and broken.
2. The name has been changed. Let's read 27-28. “… what is your name... your name... They will call it Israel...”
3. Blessed. 29 Let's read. “… and blessed Jacob.”
Saints, let's have an experience of meeting God. Like Jacob, what should be broken, though it may be broken, do not back down. A true relationship with God begins after an encounter with God has taken place. Let's meet God and live together forever.
