Title: He gives sleep to those he loves.

Psalm 127:2 He gives sleep to those he loves.
There are various phenomena that occur when my family member turns 50 and enters menopause. One of them is poor sleep control. I have to sleep especially at night, but I can't sleep well at night. Sometimes, I wake up all night with my eyes open and then go out to the morning worship service. Of course you will be tired. It will be difficult. It makes me sad to see it from the side.
However, my family, who couldn't sleep like that, saw the words of today's text. "The LORD gives sleep to those he loves." As I read these words, my family almost fell into a test. “Is it possible that the reason I can’t sleep at night is because God doesn’t love me?
Ladies and gentlemen, if you interpret this verse in this way, those who are sleeping with their eyes closed even during the sermon now must be people whom God loves very much. Have a look around once in a while? Who is God's beloved... Is there anyone who is still polite with their eyes closed even though they have told you to look around? The Lord says “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2).
Ladies and gentlemen, the words of today's text may be the most gracious words for those who sleep a lot. I also have a lot of work to do, but when I keep falling asleep, I think, 'Ah, God loves me so much!' In order not to reject God's love, I put my hands down and quietly lie in bed.
Guys, we usually spend a third of our lives sleeping. I sleep quite a bit. That's why, when you read books that emphasize the so-called situation, I advise you to reduce sleep with one voice. Sleepers insist that they will never succeed. In particular, high school seniors in Korea sometimes say, 'If you sleep for 4 hours a day, you pass, and if you sleep for 5 hours, you will fail.'
In any case, a lot of sleep is seen as an example of laziness regardless of east and west. However, in today's text, God says that he gives sleep to those he loves. I wonder if he is telling us to give up on success or if there is another deep meaning. Today, we are going to share grace together by examining the meaning of this verse.
The literal translation of today's text is as follows: "For the sake of the men he loves the most, he will give sleep in the future." If you look at the original text like this, 'Does God give men the grace to sleep more than women?' And sometimes I think. And I think, 'Sleep is a sign that God loves the most!' If interpreted in this way, the 'sleeping princess in the forest' in the fairy tale book becomes the person who received God's love the most.
However, comparing this verse with other translations makes it clear what it means. First of all, in the easy Korean Bible, it says: “Jehovah makes his loved ones sleep peacefully.” In other words, the meaning here is that God allows those he loves to sleep soundly, so that he can maintain mental and physical health.
Jeremiah 31:25-26 has this verse. “Because I have satisfied the weary spirit and refreshed the sad spirit.” I awoke and my sleep was sweet.” In other words, Jeremiah's heart was always sad and unhappy when he thought of the state of Judah being destroyed by Babylon and of his people living in captivity in a faraway foreign land.
However, God revealed to Jeremiah that in the future the Jewish people would return from captivity and the ruined Jerusalem would be rebuilt. Hearing the words of the prophecy of hope, Jeremiah was able to sleep peacefully. Is there anyone out there who can't sleep well because of worries and worries? Is there anyone who doesn't feel refreshed even after waking up? I pray that you will sleep comfortably even if you leave your worries and worries to the Lord, and be refreshed even when you wake up. This is Proverbs 3:24. “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will rest.”
And the joint translation says: "The LORD is satisfied with those he loves, even when he sleeps." These words may sound unpleasant to those who are on a diet. However, for those who are desperate to eat because there is absolutely no food, it can be a great blessing to say that God fills them even when they sleep.
And the New Standard Version of the Bible says: "Truly the Lord blesses the one he loves, even while he sleeps." Personally, I really like this translation. God blesses us even when we wake up, but we can't help but be thankful that God blesses us even while we sleep.
Folks, you cannot know what happened while a person is asleep. But definitely know. God diligently brings blessings to you even while you are sleeping. Therefore, when you wake up from your sleep, luck is already piled up in front of you. It's like something out of a fairy tale book. Fairies appeared while the main character was sleeping because he was tired and worried because he had a lot of chores, and he did everything perfectly. When I wake up, the house is sparkling.
And the thatched house that seemed to collapse while sleeping was turned into a beautiful palace. The beggar-like figure of herself had become a princess. Just like fairy tales appear and work all night in a fairy tale book, God works nonstop while we sleep, so when we wake up, the problem is solved. The good news awaits. Hallelujah!
In Genesis 2, God gives Adam the best gift. What is it? It was none other than his wife, Eve. But what did Adam do to get Eve? Did you work hard? Have you been working on the computer all night? Did you have a hard time? no. All he did was sleep and wake up. When he woke up from his sleep, God's greatest gift and blessing appeared in front of him.
This is what Genesis 2:21 says about it. “The Lord God put Adam into a deep sleep, and he fell asleep, and he took one of his ribs and filled it with flesh.” Just as Santa Claus leaves gifts at night while a child is sleeping on Christmas Day, Adam received the best gift while he was sleeping. will be I pray that you and I may receive God's blessings, gifts, and grace abundantly even while we are sleeping.
In Mark 4:26-17, we find this verse “Then he said, “The kingdom of God is like a man sowing seed on the ground, and while he sleeps and wakes day and night, a seed sprouts and grows, and he does not know what happened.” In other words, the farmer sowed the seed, slept and woke up, and without knowing it, God made the seed grow and bear fruit. In other words, God provides all the blessings we need, even while we are sleeping, in ways we are not even aware of.
In the Old Testament, we see two men named Joseph and Daniel. They are people to whom God gave various revelations through dreams. But isn't a dream given to you while you sleep? Is there any very spiritual person among them who dreams without sleeping? In other words, God reveals His will even while sleeping.
For me, I dream almost every day. I was under a lot of stress because of some complicated problem, but a revelation in my sleep often solves the problem. Even in this case, the phrase 'God blesses you even while you sleep' is established.
However, I don't know if there are people who have a very urgent personality and are asking for a sleep right now to receive a revelation and receive a blessing. However, if you look at the text in the New Standard Version of the Bible, it says, 'He will bless you even while you sleep.' In other words, He will bless you when you are awake, but you will also bless you when you are asleep. Therefore, there is no need to force yourself to sleep here to receive blessings when you cannot sleep.
And if we apply this verse a little more, it goes something like this: “He is the God who gives me blessings and grace even when I sleep. When I eat, when I work, when I walk, when I drive, when I do the dishes, when I clean the house and when I do the laundry, I bring blessings and grace in everything. You are the God who gives!" Hallelujah!
Psalm 121:3-4 says this. "The Lord will not cause you to stumble, and the one who keeps you will not sleep. The one who keeps Israel will neither sleep nor sleep." In the Bible, there is a story that Jesus often slept tired because he came in the flesh. But there is no expression at all that God is sleeping.
Why doesn't God sleep? God, who gave us sleep, why doesn't he get such a good sleep? Did God not suffer from insomnia? One of the reasons is that God is a Spirit, so He is not as tired as we are. So there is no need to sleep. This is what Isaiah 40:28 says: “Have you not known or have you not heard? Eternal God, the LORD, who created the ends of the earth, does not grow weary or grow weary.”
And the reason God does not sleep is to protect us. Just like parents, lovingly looking at their little ones while they are sleeping, they cover them again when they kick the duvet, when they sweat, they fan the baby, and when the sleeping posture is bad, they correct their posture, and mosquitoes If you run into it, it will chase away mosquitoes...
However, just as parents take care of their children while they are sleeping, God is taking care of us while we are sleeping, giving us grace, and giving us blessings. So we are safe. Peaceful. I'm happy. I pray that God's grace will be with you, who protects and blesses you and me even while sleeping in this foreign land.
