Title: Hear and Hear (Isaiah 55:1~3)
Contents
55:1 Oh, all you who thirst, come to the waters, and he who has no money, come, buy and eat; come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
55:2 Why do you give silver for that which is not bread, and toil for that which does not satisfy you? Hear and listen to me, and you will eat the good, and yourselves will find pleasure in the fat.
55:3 Incline your ear and come to me, and hear, and your souls will live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the sure grace of David.
A person's health and vitality are affected by two things. First, it has nothing to do with the food we eat every day. There is a saying "I am what I eat". This means that my body is made up of what I eat. The food we eat every day provides the health and vitality we need to function physically and mentally. And it would not be an exaggeration to say that the other depends on how you use the energy made from the food you eat. Therefore, you should eat good food and be active as much as you eat. It is said that only about 5% of human diseases are hereditary. More than 90% of diseases are caused by what you eat, and it all depends on how you eat and digest it. Therefore, if you choose healthy food, eat, move and be active as much as you eat, you can maintain a healthy life.
Absolutely what we eat is what makes us. If you want health and vitality, you will first need to eat something good.
Verse 2 says, “Why do you give silver for things that are not bread, and toil for things that are not satisfied?”
But people like "things that aren't food, things that won't fill you up". Unhealthy things are more appetizing, and the body prefers these things.
Religiously, “things that are not food and things that are not satisfied” refer to the vain and sinful things of the world. It is the same with money, worldly glory, and physical pleasures. But I like these things more.
In order for our souls to live a healthy and vital life of faith, we must eat the good food of life. It is to go to the Lord and “hear and hear of the Lord.” Many believers have to listen to God and expect God, but because they hear and expect from people, they become hardened and violent in the church, suffer from spiritual diseases, and suffer from diseases of faith.
The spiritual water and wine and wet Jesus Himself. The true food and drink is the Word of God and Jesus Himself. The Lord said in John 6:55, "My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink."
Our spiritual and physical principles are not very different.
What we eat spiritually has nothing to do with our spiritual health and spiritual vitality.
We must eat good spiritual food. Just like the fact that we cannot eat everything from food, so is spiritual food. It should not be eaten indiscriminately. The evil devil, Satan, may be playing with his words the most powerfully.
After Jesus fasted and prayed for forty days, the first thing he was tempted by Satan was the word of God that Satan used. Satan quoted God's Word with great plausibility and applied it.
What if the listening channel is wrong?
The food of the body is eaten with the mouth, but the food of the soul is eaten with the ears. That's why Revelation 2 and 3 says, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." That's what you did. It is said that faith comes from hearing (Romans 10:17), and those who hear will live (John 5:21).
When you listen, you have to listen carefully.
What if it becomes like eavesdropping instead of listening?
Doubt arises.
To those who listen to God's word and listen to God's voice, today's text promises several blessings.
1. They will eat good things (verse 2).
2. You will find joy (verse 2).
3. Your soul will live (verse 3).
will come to life. - He who hears lives
4. He said that he would receive certain grace (3).
Spiritual health and spiritual vitality are created by hearing and listening to God's Word.
And it is said that the food we eat becomes blood sugar and is used when we exercise or need vitality. If we don't use up all of the blood sugar produced by the food we ate that day, it becomes waste. These wastes eventually eat up our health and vitality. Therefore, you need to move every day as much as you eat every day. You have to work hard every day. If you move well and eat well, what you eat becomes your true life force.
We believe that when we listen to the word of God and obey it, it becomes a real life force rather than a waste product.
Since he said, “Obey me,” it is only through obedience and sacrifice that spiritual vitality is increased and spiritual health is maintained.
