heaven banquet

(2012.06.17. Week) (Matthew 22:1~14) (520/Everyone who hears preaches the gospel)

A metaphor is used to explain difficult things easily.

To describe something you haven't experienced yet - use a metaphor for something you've already experienced.

No one who lives in a physical body has ever experienced heaven or hell because it is the place where the physical body goes after death, whether it is heaven or hell.

So, in order to explain the kingdom of heaven that has not yet been experienced - Jesus - he used the parable of the wedding feast to explain the kingdom of heaven.

In the parable - a king arranged a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to invite guests, but some rejected the invitation, some accepted the invitation, and had a delightful feast with the guests - but he refused. One story is that they were punished by the king.

The king in this parable is God. The son is Jesus. Servants are evangelists who believe first and are faithful. Those who refused the invitation were unbelievers, and those who attended were church members.

This banquet house is the church, the banquet house that the world gives to take you to heaven.

What is the worship service of the heavenly banquet church?

1. This is a feast prepared by God.

This feast was not prepared by the guests, nor by the servants.

(22:2) - “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.” - It is a feast given by the king, that is, a feast given by God. Please believe that this worship we are offering today is a feast given by God.

(22:4) - "Again he sent other servants, saying, "Come to the wedding banquet, for I have prepared supper, slaughtered my oxen and fattened animals, and everything is ready." - The king had everything necessary for the feast. We have everything ready - Please believe that God has prepared all the grace that will be given to us at this worship service today.

2. This is a feast that God has invited.

It is not a private feast for the king to enjoy alone. It's not just a family feast for the king's family.

1) This is a feast where anyone is invited to come.

(22:9) - “Go to the four-way street, and as soon as you meet people, ask them to come to the wedding banquet.”

<520 hymn / Let everyone who hears preach the gospel and spread the good news. The news to preach to all people is everyone, everyone, come to the Lord. Come and hear the words of the Lord.

2) This is a feast to which God's servants were invited.

(22:3) - “He sent his servants and told them to come to the wedding banquet, but he did not want to come.” - The king sent his servants, and the servants invited some people at first.

(22:10)-“The servants went out on the road and brought everyone they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding banquet was full of guests.” - The king sent his servants back, and he brought them all they could find, both evil and good.

*We are God's servants. God tells us to invite everyone in the world. *Invite everyone, both evil and good, to everyone.

Please invite anyone, regardless of age or gender, rich or poor, good or bad, to come to church.

3. You must attend the feast.

The king prepared a feast, and the king sent his servants to invite people.

People don't have to prepare anything. You only need to accept one invitation.

God is still calling all people of the world to come to the church through the church.

But why can't every church be full? And why are there still so many people outside the church?

1) Those who declined the invitation.

In the Bible we read today, there are many people who refused the king's invitation. It is a parable of many people who have rejected God's invitation. - Who would say no?

*(22:3)-“He sent his servants and told them to come to the wedding banquet, but they did not want to come.” - ①There are people who just do not want to come.

*(22:5)-“They didn't look around, one went to his field and the other went to his own business” - ②There are people who didn't even look around because they didn't even care. ③ There are some people who do not value the church because worldly matters such as fields and business have priority.

*(22:6)-“The rest seized the slaves, insulted them, and killed them” - ④A person who actively opposes. First, there are enemies of God who persecute the servants of God who believe.

Whatever the reason, it is the same as refusing the invitation to the feast.

What was the outcome of those who refused the king's invitation?

*(22:7) - “The king was angry and sent his army to destroy the murderers and burn the town.” - Whether you just don't want to go to church, whether you are interested in it or not, with an excuse or not, - Refusing the invitation The result of those who did not come to the feast - was that they were executed and burned in the king's wrath.

*It is a warning that those who reject God's invitation - will eventually be destroyed and receive the punishment of hell.

2) Participants meet the owner.

However, those who received the invitation and attended the feast saw the king.

(22:11) - “When the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing a robe.” - The king came in to see the guests at the feast he had prepared.

Please believe that you have come to see us at this feast that our King, God, has given us today.

4. You must wear a robe after attending

Even for those who had no preparations, the king prepared everything they would eat if they attended the feast, as well as the robes to wear to the feast.

Invited guests only need to change into the robes prepared for the banquet house and eat the well-prepared food.

Sadly, it is the fact that there were some people who went into the house of the feast and met the king, but were driven out.

(22:12-13) - "He said, "Friend, why did you come in here without a robe?" He said nothing, but the king said to his servants, "Tie up his hands and feet and throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. Hani”

The robes the king gave them to wear - that is, the faith that God gave them to wear - is a warning that if you do not wear the clothes of faith, you will not be able to enter heaven and will be expelled and go to hell.

dear saints

*To the people of the world - He invites you to come to church.

*For those who have entered the church - He tells them to take off the clothes of the world and put on the clothes of faith.

*To those who believe first - He tells us to go out into the world and bring people.

*We are the ones who have already accepted all the invitations to come to church - the first gate has already been passed.

*What you need to check now is - Did you put on your clothes by faith? This is - I pray that you will grow into beautiful believers who are full of faith, not just church members without faith.

*If you want to be more greedy - I pray that you will become precious servants who are eager to invite people from all over the world to this place. - *Believing that believers will go to heaven and *servants will receive a reward. - I pray that you will go to heaven and receive a reward.
