living faith
Hebrews 11:1-3
When we talk about faith these days, we think about faith like this.
"Faith is really important. I believed hard and longed for it. It will come true as I believe. Nothing is impossible in Him who gives strength."
By quoting these scriptures, we continue to emphasize faith.
I also think that this is the difference between believers and non-believers.
But this is by no means the difference between a believer and an unbeliever.
When we live in this world, all people live with faith.
No one can live in this world without faith.
For example, a sick person goes to the hospital. Why are you going? You go to the hospital because you trust the hospital, trust the doctor, and trust the medicine.
During the operation, he trusts the doctor's touch, so he entrusts his body.
When you drive a car, you trust the driver. If you are anxious, how can you get on that ride?
In 1994, Seongsu Bridge collapsed. Inflicted many casualties.
At that time, we had to go from the military academy in Gwacheon to the nuclear power hospital in Sanggye-dong.
On Saturday morning, after the worship service, we finished cleaning and set off with the car.
I had to cross the Seongsu Bridge. However, when I came near the Seongsu Bridge, cars were constantly being pushed back.
So I turned on the radio and it was the news that Seongsu Bridge had just collapsed and traffic was closed.
I don't know how terrifying it was. So I had no choice but to enter the Yeongdongdaegyo Bridge next to it.
But as I passed the Yeongdong Bridge, I felt really afraid.
In case you do. Still, I was able to cross the bridge with the hope that it would not collapse.
We live in these many beliefs.
Look at road signs when driving, and also maps are really important.
When we go to an unknown road, we rely on road signs or maps, that is, we go there with confidence.
If you don't believe those things, you'll never see road signs or maps.
We believe in the money we spend.
It is just a piece of paper, but it is the belief that if you give a piece of paper worth 1,000 won, it can represent the value of 1,000 won.
No one in this world can live without faith.
We live because we believe in something.
So, what is the difference between what everyone in the world believes and what we believe?
About Our Faith The writer of James is talking about living faith.
To say that there is a living faith means that there is also a dead faith.
The writer of James sees faith without works and says, "It is a dead faith."
So what about living faith? It can be said that "it is a faith that is lived by seeing the faith that has works".
In other words, living faith is not only in word and tongue, but in deed and truth.
First, living faith is obedience.
In Matthew 14, Jesus is walking on the water when it is dark and when there is a storm. At that time, the disciples constantly thought of them as ghosts and were startled.
At that time, when the Lord said, 'Be at peace with me,' Peter, who had recovered his mind, said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."
Then Jesus said, "Come." So Peter gets out of the boat and walks on the water.
How many steps will it be?
How did Peter feel as he walked a few steps?
"Oh, I can walk too, it's really strange. It's fun..."
However, for a short time with that feeling, I was afraid to see the storm coming and fell into the water.
Where is Peter's faith in these words?
Faith itself is a reality.
The word ‘real reality’ means ‘a pedestal offered from below’.
Therefore, just because I believed, faith itself is not the answer.
Faith is the pedestal on which answers are placed.
You guys have put this podium on the podium. If this pulpit is weak, it will fall.
Even if you put a vase on it, the base must be strong to put the vase on it. If the base is weak, the vase will collapse.
So where is Peter's faith?
Was it faith to say, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water"?
Or is it faith to get off the boat to walk on the water?
Peter's faith got off the boat.
It is not faith that Peter asked Jesus to do, but faith when he got off the boat and took one step forward.
Although they later saw the storm and fell into the water, they were rebuked by the Lord, but the other disciples did something they couldn't even imagine.
Of course, our beliefs must be the same first and last. You must not see the winds and waves of the world and have distrust!
Confession is not faith. Of course, confession is necessary, but the actions that follow must appear.
Obedience must be shown.
In other words, our faith must not be based on words alone, but must be manifested in deeds.
A traveler approached the edge of the Grand Canyon and the road slipped and fell off a cliff.
But he managed to grab a small branch and hang on it. He was terrified and shouted.
"Anyone over there? Can someone save me?"
Then a voice came. “Here I am, the Lord your God.”
"I am so glad you are there."
"I'll save you, but before that, I'll just ask you one thing. Do you believe me?"
"Lord. I believe in it. I not only go to church every week, but I also go to the morning prayer meeting. I also read the Bible and spend time in prayer every day. I donate a lot."
The Lord asked again. "No, do you really believe in me?"
"You don't know how much I trust you. I trust you."
"Okay. Then get your hands off that branch."
"But Lord ..."
"If you really believe in me, get your hands off that branch."
For a long time he thought quietly.
Then I shouted:
"There's no one else up there, save me!"
Living faith is when Peter gets out of the boat and goes to the sea, and it is faith when he lets go of a tree branch.
When talking about faith, the person who always comes up is Abraham.
He commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, whom Abraham bore when he was 100 years old.
Abraham must have had various thoughts as he went on the three-day journey toward Mount Moriah.
Those three days must have been longer for Abraham than the days he had ever lived.
Abraham obeyed God's command by obedience.
This is what God has approved.
We hope that our faith will become a living faith, not a dead faith, but a faith with works.
2. If you have living faith, you will enjoy the promises of God.
The verse says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for.”
Our faith is not believing in the future, but believing in the past.
Then, you can say, 'Believing in something that has not yet been fulfilled is not faith.'
The Lord said, 'If you have prayed with faith, you know that you have already received it.'
If you believe and pray, it has already been accomplished. In other words, the answer to prayer is a story of the past.
If we don't know what we prayed for after praying, how can we say we prayed?
What's the use of praying if you go home and reflect on it, and you can't believe it?
I prayed with faith and without doubting.
And if you do not doubt even after 15 minutes of praying, that prayer will be answered.
People pray, turn around and say, "May it be done!" is to have doubts.
Do you pray and are you sure that your prayers will come true?
If we pray, we don't know when that prayer will come true, but when a day goes by, a month goes by, and a year goes by, that faith doesn't change.
Although it has not been fulfilled yet, when we live on the sure belief that the promise will come true, our lives will meet the reality that God's promise will come true for us.
Abraham did not know Galpah, but he went.
Although it was a land he had never been to before, Abraham was walking the path with faith.
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the blazing furnace, they said, "Our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the blazing furnace, and even from your hand, even if not! Know that I will not serve gods, nor will I bow down to the golden image you have set up.”
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego certainly believed.
Faith is the substance of what is hoped for, and it carries the sure evidence of what has not yet been seen.
Those who have living faith enjoy the promises of the Bible for the rest of their lives.
There is a belief that water comes out when you turn on the faucet.
Then, if we only have such faith, we can only get water by turning on the faucet in order to get water through the faucet.
3. Those who have living faith are approved by God.
People want to be recognized by someone. Who do you want to draw attention to?
It is really important for us to be accepted by people. It is really important to be recognized by the world.
Who deserves more recognition than that? It is God.
We need God to acknowledge our faith and our faith.
Verse 2 says, 'This is how the forefathers got the evidence'.
The saying that the evidence was obtained means that the ancestors were recognized for this faith.
They were recognized for their faith by not losing their faith in the midst of tribulation and persecution, and by keeping their faith firmly.
I had a faith that the world could not bear.
God, who said to live by faith, did not say 'just believe', but drew the image of the forefathers of faith in the past, and these people walked this way. So you walk
When our faith obeys the word of God, the word becomes a reality for us, and therefore our faith can be recognized by God.
I pray that all the members of our church will become living faith like this and become a faith that is accepted by God.
i trust my dad
One day, a young son climbed an old apple tree. The father was watching his son climb from under the tree. However, the tree was too old to bear the weight of his son and began to bend and break. The son yelled at the others to get out of the way, and people ran away from the trees.
Then the father saw his son in trouble and shouted with his arms outstretched.
"Anyone. Come on, jump down. Don't worry, Dad will pick it up, so jump down."
The son looked down for a moment and then exclaimed:
"Dad, I can do anything, right? Dad. I trust you."
Then the son jumped safely into his father's arms.
At that time, as soon as the father listened to his son, he felt as if God was delivering a message.
“Heavenly Father, I can do anything I believe in Heavenly Father”
And I came to believe that he would provide for all our needs
