Sermons for Preaching

Title: Hebrews 6 “Go into perfection”

Hebrews 6 “Go into perfection”

Central to the book of Hebrews is the preeminence of Jesus Christ as the High Priest and the importance of faith in Jesus Christ. Hebrews 6 exhorts us to progress toward maturity and perfection in our faith.

1 “Abandoning the rudiments of the Way” (1-3)

2 “Once you get light … The fallen” (4-8)

The articles listed here are gifts given to believers. It means that those who have received and experienced the gifts given to believers can also fall. In other words, those who have once been illuminated by the Holy Spirit, receive the spiritual blessings of heaven, are moved by the Holy Spirit, taste the power of the gospel of God and the power of heavenly life, and have fallen, cannot be renewed and converted again. This is the case with Judas Iscariot and the case with Elder Park Tae-sun. A person may fall from the faith and commit suicide.

3 “I am convinced of near salvation” (9-20)

Here reproof and warning are replaced with praise and encouragement. They are close to salvation. It is that they “served the saints with the love shown for his name.” Therefore, it is to ‘be diligent,’ ‘not lazy’, ‘by faith and long-suffering,’ to ‘imitate’ the ancestors of the faith, and to achieve salvation. And the sure basis for salvation is the promise of God and the high priesthood of Jesus.
