Title: His mercy endures forever
Contents
Psalm 118:1-13 / His mercy endures forever.
* Today the psalmist / praises God whose mercy is everlasting.
- That loving God // is on my side today / and my refuge
& I am the God / who cuts them off from the things that oppose and surround me.
* Through today's text / What kind of God is... What are the lessons he gives me...
& Let's think about a few things.
1. Verse 1
* An urgent request from the psalmist is presented.
- [Thank Jehovah!]
- God tells us today about / [the many blessings God has given]
& I want to thank you as much as I can. “Thank you!”
** By the way, why should I be thankful?
- God is good.
- God's mercy is eternal.
- That's why... - Thank you.
* Dear friends!
- Are you overflowing with gratitude these days / are you overflowing with complaints and dissatisfaction?
* God is always good /
& God is always merciful - trusting that he guides me and leads me
& How to be thankful with faith - I hope you will be like that.
2. Verses 6-7
* God is on my side.
- God is on my side. - What are you afraid of?
- God is on my side. - Who would dare do me?
<- ‘What will people do to me?’>
** If we are on God's side - man can't/can't help me.
- Because God is on my side - Those who hate me
& God will reward you.
* Dear friends!
- Do you have any problems / because of someone - are you afraid of -?
- God is on my side.
- God is on my side - Support me / Push me.
* Also, if you think about this saying the other way around... //
- Am I always on God's side?
** Remember Lincoln's conversation with his staff during the war?
- “Sir! / Will God be on our side?”
- “Don’t ask if God is on our side / Ask if I am on God’s side!!”
- Always on God's side / I hope you will be like that.
3. Verses 8-9
* We must choose.
- Will you flee from Jehovah God? - Would you trust people / and avoid them there?
- Will you take refuge in Jehovah? - Will you trust the dignitaries?
** What is our true [safe zone] today? = It belongs to our God.
- Nowhere in the world - there is no safe zone.
** If you look at the road / there is a safe zone - you say there are more accidents there, right?
<Yes/ Preacher - I parked my car on the way to the tollgate and slept - he came and squeezed me!!>
- A safe zone is not a safe area.
* If you have enough money in your bankbook - is it safe?
* If my child goes to a good college - is it safe now?
* If you have all kinds of sweet and security windows in your house - is it safe?
- It's not like that.
* Please believe that our true safe zone today is only / in the arms of our God.
- Flee to our God.
- Do not depend on people / rely only on our God and trust
& people of such faith! / I hope you are all right.
4. Verses 10-13
* What is the psalmist's situation / right now?
- All countries are surrounded.
- They surrounded / surrounded them like swarms of bees.
- And then try to push / knock.
** This is the situation the psalmist is facing now.
- It is surrounded by layers. - The road ahead is difficult.
- You are standing on the edge of the last cliff.
** But even in this situation, the psalmist - who does he turn to now?
- "I will borrow the power of other powers - I will cut them off!" otherwise
& “I will cut them off in the name of the LORD - I will overcome them in the name of the LORD”
& declares like this.
- I confessed that over and over again 3 times.
** what? - It shows strong will and determination.
- “Even in a situation like this, I will rely only on the name of God”
& “I will go forward calling only the name of God!!”
* Today's confession of faith - May it become your confession / I bless you in the name of the Lord.
* What happens when that happens?
- Like a thornbush that they surrounded them, they would be destroyed in an instant.
- Trying to push me down - but God will help / make me strong.
* Dear friends!
- In all difficulties and difficulties - Calling on the name of God
& Deciding to depend only on God - I hope you become such a person.
