Title: Hope for Honesty / Proverbs 30:7-9

Content: Hope for Honesty / Proverbs 30:7-9

Key Verse: “Keep away from me falsehood and lies… ” (verse 8)

Word: People live with wishes and hopes that must be fulfilled throughout their lives. A person without hope is a dead person. At the same time, hope is also a criterion by which a person's vessel and level are judged. The level of a person's life can be known by looking at the hopes he had and the world he lived in.

In today's Bible, we see the hope of a wise man named 'Agur'. Agur's lifelong wish was twofold. One is the wish to be an honest person. Another is to ask that you be neither rich nor poor. Agul's wish makes it feel a bit odd. Because it raises the question of whether an honest life can be a desire so desperately needed to seek God for the rest of one's life. There are too many cases where honesty draws the line of ‘compromise’ that is appropriate enough to lose its meaning in the life of a believer. Our society is full of people who make up lies. They exaggerate themselves here and there, deceive their academic background, deceive their careers, and are full of lies.

But Jesus said: “You are of your father the devil… He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, and he cannot stand in the truth because the truth is not in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, because he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). Did you know that there are lies in it? “Nothing profane, or an abomination, or a liar, shall come in. . . . ” (Rev 21:27) There is no other sin that is so easily committed unless one is so careful as lying. Because lying provides an easy shortcut to get out of trouble without taking responsibility, and it's a sin that only takes a few movements of your lips.

Imagine if what God said to us was a lie. Just imagining it is terrifying. However, even if you do not believe in the people of the world and in your own eyes, you can only believe in the Word of God, so you can obey God in any situation. Dear saints, I want you to know that honest living is the clearest proof that we are Christians and is the unchanging standard for entering the kingdom of heaven. Now, like Agul in today's text, we must truly strive for an honest life and an honest life.

Prayer: Lord, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” I earnestly pray that there may be honesty in our lives and words, and give us the strength to strive to live truthfully. So let me follow you. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
