Title The best gift (John 1:14)
Contents
It is the best gift (John 1:14).
Once upon a time there lived a very wise and wise king in the country of Persia. He loved his people so terribly that he would wear shabby beggars and visit poor families to find out for himself what they were. That is why no one who met the king knew that he was a king.
The king once visited a very poor peasant living in a dying hut. The peasant only knew the king as a beggar. However, I tried to treat it with all sincerity. Because he was so poor, the king disguised himself as a beggar and was treated with poor food. And we talked all night long. And the king left the poor house and went back to the royal palace. The next day, the king went back to the poor shack and announced that he was the king of the country. When the poor farmer knew this, he was startled. The king thought the poor peasant would ask for some good gift, but he asked for nothing.
When the king said, “If you have any gifts or requests, please tell me.” The poor farmer exclaimed with emotion, “The king, after abandoning his royal family and glory, finds this humble dwelling place, and devours meager food. Your Majesty has already given me overflowing joy. You have given me a gift more precious than any other gift, Your Majesty,” replied in a trembling voice.
As such, the coming of Jesus to this earth is the greatest event in which God, the Lord of heaven and earth, came to meet us personally (Doseonginshin).
The Bible (John 1:14) The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
The word “grace” here means “a free gift”.
The word “truth” here means 'the Word of the Bible' (John 17:17), 'Jesus' (John 14:6), 'The Holy Spirit' (1 John 5:7), and the 'Gospel' (Galatians 2:5). ) means.
Christmas is the day when God sent the best gift (Jesus) to all mankind.
1. The best gift (Jesus) never wears out or wears out.
The best gift (Jesus) does not change or destroy. The gifts we usually give and receive wear out over time, rust and become useless. But the best gift (Jesus) that God has given to us who believe in Jesus is Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The grass withers and the flowers wither, but God's word does not change forever, so it is the best gift (Jesus). There is no one more pitiful than the one who did not receive this good gift (Jesus). Even today, many people celebrate Christmas with excitement, but they do not know whose birthday it is. There is no one as poor as the one who does not know that the best gift (Jesus) is in my heart. Jesus is the richest person in my heart.
2. The best gift (Jesus) is with us everywhere.
If you go to Austria, there is a beautiful bridge, and it is said that there are 12 statues of Jesus in different shapes on the bridge. Many people go to meditate in front of the statue, and the shepherds think of Jesus walking with the shepherds while meditating in front of the statue of the Good Shepherd. Farmers stand in front of the statue of Jesus in the form of a farmer sowing seeds and feel Jesus with the farmers. The fishermen feel Jesus walking with them in front of the statue of a calming storm. Doctors, nurses, and sick people come in front of the statue of Jesus who heals and meditate on the Jesus of Immanuel who is with them and pray.
No matter what job you have today, Jesus is your friend. You and I will be partners. Even when we struggle alone, Jesus taps us on the shoulder and says, “I will be with you.” Amen.
3. The best gift (Jesus) needs to be shared with others.
The best gift (Jesus) is not worth having alone. It is a way to create a desire to share with others. In the material world, if I give to others what I have, there will be an empty space for me, but the best gift (Jesus) is given, the more blessed, more beautiful, and more gracious it becomes. The greatest gift (Jesus) cannot be taken alone. must share. He who has alone is unhappy.
A few years ago, an old man was found living alone like a beast in the deep jungle of an island in the South Pacific. This old man was a soldier who took part in the battle during World War II. He hid in this jungle for fear of death, and did not even know the war was over until 40 years had passed. If someone had informed him of the end of the war, he would not have wasted time in solitude and fear. How sad are you? It is the same if we live without receiving Jesus around us. So, the best gift (Jesus) must be delivered quickly. Amen.
