Church is important (2) (Psalm 84:7-12)
Last week we heard a sermon under the title . Of course, today's church building cannot be identified with the Old Testament temple, but it is an undeniable fact that the church building is important nonetheless.
Another thing we cannot deny is that those who are close to the church also draw closer to God. Conversely, if you are separated from the church, you will also be separated from God. It is an undeniable reality. So we need to get close to the church and visit it often. It is also true that the frequency of church visits is directly proportional to faith growth. Why? It is probably because those who are close to the church receive grace. So, we should yearn for the church and try to come to church.
Do you want to meet God? Do you want to experience grace? You have to come to church. Pray and worship at church. God gives grace to those who long for and seek the temple. He opens the door of the fountain of grace and gives amazing grace at the right time
1. Give them strength.
In verse 5, there are those who gain strength from the Lord. what kind of people They are those who gain strength and go to the highways of Zion. If we had to distinguish these people, we could say that they were those who decided to climb up to the temple, and those who took the first step toward the temple.
Everyone! We need the strength of the Lord when we decide to go to the temple or take our first steps toward it. We can't do it with our own strength. We need the strength of the Lord to push us. Because it is not easy to go to the temple. But in verse 7 of the text, it is said that they gain strength and gain more. The power here is different from the power in verse 5. If the strength in verse 5 is the strength needed to take the first step towards the temple, the strength here is the strength needed while going towards the temple.
Everyone! As we have seen before, the road to the temple is sometimes as difficult as the valley of tears. Lots of obstacles You need the power of God to go through it. You have to rely on that power to keep going. You don't need the power just once. Today's text was to gain strength and go further. We need the power to help from moment to moment. The saints are those who live by that power. So David confessed in Psalm 18:1:
Today the psalmist said it was better to be a gatekeeper in the temple of my God than to live in the tents of the wicked. You can see how much you love the temple. As long as you can get close to God, as long as you can have fellowship with God, you can live as a gatekeeper in the temple. That is why I always want to live in the temple. We want our members to know this joy.
Just as the psalmist longed for the temple to be healed of morbidity, as the road leading to the temple was through the valley of tears and he came up with strength, just as one day spent in the temple was more precious than a thousand I hope that the saints will come in contact with God deeply in the temple.
