Title The Eucharist Mission (Mark 14:17~26)
“Captain,
The wind is too strong and the waves are too high
Don't you think it's too much for a boat to float?"
"no. We've been ordered to go rescue.
Now there is a ship in distress at sea. We must go.”
“But Captain! We will never come back.”
Then the captain replied:
“Man, we have not been commanded to return.
I have been ordered to go!”
Our church, celebrating its 90th anniversary, has “Exodus Mission” or “Exodus Mission” as one of its goals. What is the Exodus Mission in Christ?
First, the cross is missionary.
The Exodus mission is a mission to preach the cross. It is a movement to believe in the grace of Jesus on the cross and be saved. It is a missionary movement that moves us from the seat of sin and death to the seat of righteousness and eternal life.
♣ There was an Irish maiden named Priscilla Livingston Stewart. This maiden had a cheerful personality with blonde hair and blue eyes. But although she was a Catholic, she was a formal Christian, living far from the cross. This Priscilla danced all night at a dance party one day before returning home around 4am and going to bed. That night I had a very terrifying dream. She felt a desire to go to God. But the devil laughed at her side. There was a large valley in front of her, and a heavy load was on her back, so she could not move even a single step to approach the Lord. Then Jesus drew near to her. Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns, was stained with blood flowing from his face, waist, hands and feet. “Why are you there like that?”.
Then a voice was heard.
“You are healed by my wounds” (cf. Isaiah 53:5).
She repented on the spot and gave herself to the Lord. Eighteen months later, in 1887, the 24-year-old Priscilla received missionary training and became a missionary in Shanghai, China. Then she married a famous Chinese missionary named Charles Stud.
That's right. Cross. The blood of the cross that changed the Priscilla sisters! Please believe that we are a church that needs to raise a great spiritual awakening movement in our nation first and a missionary movement to cover the whole world in exodus to spread this gospel.
Second, it is a sacrament mission.
The mission of preaching the cross is the mission of serving the Lord's Supper. Although we do communion, it is a very important missionary method. Through the sacrament, we preach the Atonement, sacrifice, and love of the Lord on the cross and do missionary work. The sacrament commemorates the Lord who gives body and blood. But, dear ones, do we not have a eucharistic mission beyond just bread and wine? no. There is. That is to lay down our own lives. Giving up our most precious things. If you give according to the will of the Lord, you will surely come back better. You will receive double.
Ecclesiastes 11:1, “Throw your food on the water. I will find it back in many days.” If we give up the most precious thing for missionary work, we will surely come back with better fruit in due time. Now is the time to give our most precious thing, the most valuable alabaster, for missions. Then the Lord will surely repay you with a better gift. As we celebrate the sacrament, it is time for us to offer our bodies and sacrifices to the Lord for missionary work. This is to spread the gospel of the cross to the ends of the earth.
Third, it is a mission to heaven.
The Exodus mission is a spiritual awakening movement, a sacrament mission, and a heavenly movement. A mission without heaven is a mission without a direction. The direction of the Exodus missions is heaven. It is a movement that leads the nation and the nations to heaven, and makes the nation a lamp to the nations with the light of the gospel. ( The poem “The Lamp of the East” by the Indian poet Tagore, the first in the East to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, is a poem that gives us a sense of vocation, especially among Christians.
This poem reads:
Early in Asia's Golden Age/
Korea, one of the shining lanterns
On the day the lamp is lit once again
You will be a bright light in the East, there is no fear in my heart
Where the head is held high Knowledge is free
A place where the world is not divided into pieces by a narrow wall
Where words spring from the depths of truth
Where endless efforts open up arms towards perfection
In the sandy plain of hardened habit, the clear flow of the earth
A place that is not lost, it spreads infinitely
Where our minds are guided by our thoughts and actions
To such a hall of liberty/
Korea, the homeland of my heart, wake up
It is the Wangsimni Church at the end of its 90-year history, and our members, only when Korea, wake up our people and rise with the lamp of the national exodus movement. Wangsimni Church of the Land of Love, we are the church that we must proclaim and prove on this earth that the kingdom of heaven is the kingdom of love. In heaven, we must become a church that pours out the cup of love on this earth until we drink new wine.
Mission Giving is a movement that gives the body of love and pours out the blood of love. That's why we're using the red missionary offering envelopes. It is the sacrament mission envelope. In this envelope, we send our sacrificial offerings that testify of the blood of the Lord to the mission field. When this red gift envelope is full of people who donate, we believe that our church will become a church in the Kingdom of Love that works in the kingdom of heaven and a true missionary of Jesus' Exodus from Egypt.
Dear saints,
We are like captains and sailors on a stormy day, commanded to rescue a ship in distress. A ship was in distress at sea and hit S.O.S. The rescue boat captain was contacted and launched the boat. A young sailor protests to the captain.
“Captain, don’t you think this wind is too strong and the waves are too high to lift the boat?”
"no. We've been ordered to go rescue. Now there is a ship in distress at sea. We must go.”
“But Captain! We will never come back.”
Then the captain replied:
“Man, we are not commanded to come back, we are commanded to go!”
The end of the 90th anniversary of history must be renewed through evangelism and missions. have to tell have to send I need help. Through this, we believe that we will receive all the rewards of the Lord as the church, the exodus missionary mission that covers Asia and the world.
