Title The event where the promise was fulfilled

The event where the promise was fulfilled (Acts 2:1-4)

The 120 people who believed in the words of Jesus' promise and gathered in Mark's upper room prayed with one heart. When the day of Pentecost came, a sound like a strong wind from heaven filled the whole house where they were sitting, and when they saw tongues of fire splitting like fiery tongues and came to rest on each of them, one by one, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and as the Holy Spirit spoke, I started talking. On what day was the day of Pentecost that the miracle of the coming of the Holy Spirit, as promised by Jesus, occurred on this day? And what does the coming of the Holy Spirit mean? Is the promised power of the Holy Spirit proven through these phenomena? How are God's promises fulfilled in Jesus Christ?

1. The Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost

Pentecoste is one of the three great Jewish feasts (Passover, Tabernacles, and Pentecost), and the 50th day from the day of the offering of the first grain is called Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15-16). This Feast of Pentecost is also called the Feast of Weeks or the Feast of Harvest because the firstfruits are harvested (Exodus 23:16). The Israelites observed Pentecost as an honorable and joyful feast. The reason is that, firstly, the harvest of wheat has begun, the second is the firstfruits of early summer, and the third is the day the Ten Commandments were received. This feast is a feast of thanksgiving. The coming of the Holy Spirit on this day is the fulfillment of the prophecy for God's amazing work of salvation. It is the beginning of the true harvest of souls, and the establishment of powerful harvesters (evangelists) for this purpose (Matthew 9:37-38), and the hope of the glory of becoming a child of God through the firstfruits of the Spirit (Romans 8). :23), He raised up missionaries to spread the word of salvation to all the world and showed the work of saving those who believe (Romans 10:13-15).

2. Evidence of the coming of the Holy Spirit

The presence of the Holy Spirit came at the appointed time of God, according to the promise of Jesus, as prophesied to the prophets through the words of the Old Testament. He showed us several phenomena so that we could clearly recognize the event of the actual presence of the Holy Spirit. That was the sound of the wind and the fiery splitting like tongues. In the event of Jesus, the Son of God, coming to this earth, numerous heavenly armies and angels suddenly appeared and showed the shepherds the evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit of God on this earth. Angels of God serve God as spirits from God and are spiritual beings who serve saved saints. God makes his angels wind and his ministers a flame (Psalm 104:4; Hebrews 1:7). Therefore, the event that God the Holy Spirit came to this world is an event that symbolically shows His majesty, glory, and work.

3. The Presence and Purpose of the Holy Spirit

According to the promise of Jesus, God's intention shown through the coming of the Holy Spirit is as follows. First, it shows that Jesus' ministry of preaching the gospel of the kingdom was transformed from the work of the Lord to the ministry of the disciples through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Second, the presence of the Holy Spirit reveals the work of God that transcends human circumstances and limitations. It was a turning point in the new ministry as things that could not be done by human strength were done through the Holy Spirit. It was a turning point in a new era that went beyond the lineage of the Jewish people to all peoples of the world. Third, God's saving work of saving sinners became a turning point through the Holy Spirit. In other words, the age of the gospel, not the law, has opened. God's justification became a turning point through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-22). Now, a new era has been opened through the presence of the Holy Spirit. That is, the age of grace, the age of salvation, and the age of world missions have opened. Therefore, all of God's promises were fulfilled through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
