Title The Good Shepherd / John 10:11-15

Contents Now, we would like to hear the famous Shepherd Declaration of Jesus. Note that the phrase [I am the good shepherd] (10:11, 14) is repeated twice. The original text is 'I am the good shepherd' can be translated directly. This is my solemn declaration that I am the only good shepherd.

I. He was called the Good Shepherd (10:11,14)

In Greek society at that time, the word 'good' was usually used in two cases. One of them is the line called Agados. This word generally refers to the good and the good, namely the moral good, the aesthetic good, and the intellectual good. This is the normative line.

In English, it is translated as 'good' and sometimes as 'honest' (Romans 12:17, 2 Corinthians 8:21). The line ( ) used by Jesus is a word that includes 'smooth, elegant, nice to look at, beautiful, lovely, useful, honorable, attractive, etc.

The word 'Agados' is appealing to moral consciousness, but 'Kalos' is actually appealing to the sensible eye. It's real, it's sensuous.

In the Greek society at that time, this word started from referring to the appearance of a handsome woman and a handsome man, and when it expressed the confession of love, the person's personality, the person's status and honor, this word showed the best light. . It was the word that revealed the best light not only for people but also when talking about the charm of nature, the beauty of houses, stylish clothes, and all things. The person, thing, or event that was attached to this word, that is, Carlos ( ) in front of him, always became the best. For example, good men, good women, good doctors, good educators, good lawyers, good houses, good clothes, etc. In the Bible, when God's results of creation of heaven and earth are expressed, God immediately saw the world He had made and said, 'It was good', and that word is Kalos ( ).

In the New Testament, good trees (Matthew 3:10), good soil (Matthew 13:8, 23), good meat (Matthew 13:48), good salt (Mark 9:50), good wine (John 2:10), Good law (Romans 7:16; 1 Tim. 1:8), good works (Matthew 5:16), good works (John 10:32-33), good office (1 Tim. 3:1, 3:13), good soldiers. Good fight (1 Tim. 1:18, 6:12, 2 Tim. 2:3, 4:7), good servant (1 Tim 4:6), good teaching (1 Tim. 4:6), good witness (1 Tim. 6:12-13) , a good steward (1 Peter 4:10), and so on, all have Kalos ( ) attached to them.

In particular, regarding the behavior of the woman who poured perfume on Jesus' head at the house of Simon the leper who lived in Bethany, Jesus said, "She has done a good thing for me" (Matthew 26:10, Mark 14). :6). Therefore, whenever and wherever the gospel of the Lord is witnessed, I told you to tell me what this woman has done in remembrance of me. It refers to the good that remains forever, the living good, and the speaking good. He said that it should remain as a line that will be remembered, a line that impresses, and a line that gives newness.

This woman did Carlos ( ) to Jesus.

It was the only way for her to confess her love for Jesus and communicate her love. Foolish, insensitive, selfish and greedy people criticized her actions as reckless waste. But Jesus said that what she did was not a waste, but a good deed. It was a confession of love, a movement of love, and a demonstration of love. It was an act of love that he knew was happiness and contentment only to do his best, to do his best, to pour the most expensive perfume on Jesus. It was a practical act that I never even thought of calculating the cost. It shows that loving and giving can only be tasted with the courage to act. So, Carlos ( ) is what makes a person's human deeds shine.

Now Jesus declared 'The Good Shepherd' as one of the most beautiful, attractive, and precious titles of Jesus Himself.

The basic concept of this 'line' or kalos ( ) is 'attractive beauty'. It is that if it is not for the gift of 'love', it can never be Kalos. Therefore, a good deed is the result of the heart where love supremely reigns. The outward beauty of an act begins with the greatness of the inner love in the heart.

These words, in which Jesus declared that he was the only good shepherd, contain the 'charm of love' beyond explanation. It never goes beyond any moral good, intellectual good, ethical good, social justice good, statistic good, patriotic good, etc.

II. Where does his pastoral good appear?

The fact is that it appears in 'sheep'. The good shepherd should heed what he says 'for the sheep' (10:11, 14).

How, then, does the 'shepherd good' appear to the sheep?

1. Appears in 'my sheep'.

10:4 repeats 'his sheep', verse 14 'I am my sheep', and verse 27 'my sheep'. The sheep originally belonged to my father, and he said that he gave them to me. In the 17th chapter of John's Gospel, it is said to be 'mine'.

The good of the parents to my children is paroxysmal. When you turn to your children, you become good parents. To my husband and my wife, the couple's good is paroxysmal. To my father and my mother, the goodness of children is activated. That is filial piety. The good of patriotism will arise in my country and my people. It appears as a patriot, a martyr, etc. When you become my disciple and my teacher, a line between priests arises. The pastoral good of Jesus was exercised toward 'my sheep'.

In Isaiah 43:1, [Jacob! Israel! You are mine]. It is because of the creation of God the Father, the redemption of Jesus the Son, and the calling of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. The Shepherd Good is triggered on 'my sheep'.

2. It is manifested in loving my sheep.

In 10:14 it says, ? know my sheep, and my sheep know me.??The word 'know' here is completely different from simple intellectual knowledge ( ). This word comes from the Old Testament yada ( ) and refers to the knowledge of love relationships, that is, the knowledge of marital relationships, the knowledge of exclusive secrets, and the empirical knowledge. Necessary knowledge, purposeful knowledge, and planned knowledge. It is continuous knowledge. It means knowing the origin of the sheep, knowing its name, knowing its number, knowing its voice, knowing its weakness, and knowing its future. When you say 'I know' (love), God's disappointment arises.

An evangelist met a shepherd in the mountains of Lebanon and asked, "How much do you know your sheep?" The shepherd answered, "You cover my eyes with a towel and bring any sheep." "I can tell if it's mine or not by just putting my hand on the sheep's head once."

The shepherd's callus is manifested in knowing, that is, loving his sheep. It is something that no one will ever know. Only the Good Shepherd knows his own sheep. The good shepherd knows his sheep. Love it.

3. It is manifested in laying down one's life for my sheep.

In 10:11, 14 it says, "I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

The word 'life' used by the Lord here does not refer to the divine and eternal life zoe ( ), but to the fleshly life pushke ( ). If so, this word refers to the sacrifice of Jesus, who came to the world in the flesh, and died on the cross to bear our sins in that body.

The word 'laying down one's life' ( ) has the same meaning as the phrase "that he might give his life a ransom for many" in Mark 10:45. This is the good ( ) that Jesus showed us. Giving is good. It is said that giving life is good. Prior to that, 'love' for sinners was presupposed, and because of that love, he emptied himself and came into the world in the form of a servant (innocence) and lived a good life for 33 years (life of innocence). Finally, through the death of the cross, the goodness of love exploded. The final blast, the best blast, the big blast. It is an irresistible explosion. I was able to say that I was the good shepherd by calling it 'one's life', not the life of others. Only I am the way, the truth, and the life. I am the light of the world, and I am the bread of life. Only I am the resurrection and the life. Only I could be called the true vine. Giving one's life, self-sacrifice, and self-love.

This is the charm of 'goodness' of the Good Shepherd. The elegance of the line. The beauty of lines. It looks like a line. The value of good. This sacrifice of the cross to lay down his life for the sheep! This is the nature, the essence, the true color, and all of Kalos.

Thus, Jesus himself was Carlos. He showed the Carlos to his people. He revealed it to his people, his people (Matthew 1:21, John 13:1).

The Carlos appeared to 'love' his people. That love exploded into an action that took the place of our sins by giving up his life on the cross. Then he left the message of Carlos saying, [I am finished] (John 19:30). It is a law-fulfilling dog. It is the dog of the fulfillment of all prophecies. No atonement is a dog of fulfillment. The dog of Jesus Carlos.

Everyone who is being ordained as a pastor today!

Hebrews 13:20 says ?esus, the great shepherd of the sheep?? In 1 Peter 5:4, he is referred to as [the Chief Shepherd]. In 1 Peter 2:25, it is called [the shepherd and overseer of the soul]. He is the 'Good Shepherd' according to his declaration.

We are the ones who have received the office of acting as the good shepherd of Him at this time. That name is 'Pastor'.

You must be a good shepherd. Never be a stranger, a laborer, a thief, a thief, or a robber. These are those who make godliness the material of their own gain. In other words, they are those who consider the shepherd's job as a profession. Those who view it as a means of life.

A good shepherd is not one who takes care of sheep with a professional conscious mind. He cares for them with sacrificial love. He does not know in advance the precise calculation of all kinds of dangers in helping a sheep who is in agony. How many hours a day, how many hours a week do not count as a place of work. All the hours, all the days, all the energies, all the talents, all the meanings, values, and purposes of his existence are the ranch and the sheep. The Good Shepherd's life itself can be fun, rewarding, beautiful, and heroic because his service is not for wages, but charity.

A shepherd's goodness is to convulse when he sees a sheep. The content of the seizure is 'love'. The element of that love is 'sacrifice'. Laying down your life for the sheep.

The good shepherd has only the right to serve the Lord's sheep. You have only the right to love the sheep of the Lord. You have only the right to sacrifice to lay down your life for the Lord's sheep. You must prove that love and sacrifice with your actions. This is the shepherd's line. This is pastoral authority. The right to do good to the sheep! This is the shepherd's all shepherd.
