Title The Good Shepherd / John 10:11-18

Contents

“I am the good shepherd,” said the Lord. The word “good” means beautiful, excellent, and flawless. And it is a shepherd with a strong sense of responsibility. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, compares two things in today's text and speaks.

The first is compared to a thief (verse 10).

Thieves come for two purposes. It means that they come to steal (verse 10), and when they are caught, they come to people to kill and destroy their master to harm them. But Jesus came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly (verse 10). A comparison between the thief and Jesus. comes the same. But the Lord comes to give life to men, and to give life abundantly.

Thieves do not come because they love sheep. But Jesus, the shepherd, came because he loved sheep. He came to raise, feed, and protect sheep. Therefore, when we say that we are the Lord's sheep, we must follow the Lord. There are many things that come to us in this world. However, I hope that you will look to Jesus, who has come to us, our Good Shepherd, believe in Him, and follow Him faithfully. Because there is a way to live. There is life. Because we have an abundant life, we want to follow Jesus, the shepherd.

The second is comparing wages. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep (verse 11). Also, the good shepherd lays down his life (verse 15). They lay down their lives (verse 17). The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep (verse 18). This is what the Good Shepherd does. This is the purpose of the coming of the Good Shepherd. But the wager is not a shepherd, and the sheep are not my sheep. When a wolf sees a wild beast coming, it throws the sheep away. So in the end they run away. A wolf comes and bites the sheep's neck and hurts them. To harm means to scatter, tear, and eat sheep. That's scary.

But the good shepherd fights his enemies for his sheep. He sacrifices his life while fighting. The Good Shepherd is one who is blameless or blameless in his loyalty, love, sacrifice, and service. And this good shepherd knows the sheep very well. “I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me” (verse 14). Living together, being together, and knowing as a community. To fully know his habits, his stubbornness, his weaknesses, and his good points. He said that the shepherd and the sheep know each other just as the Father knows the Son and the Son knows God the Father, just as God the Father and God the Son know each other.

Everyone! Do you know Jesus, your shepherd? Not sure yet? If so, then this message should be a challenge and you should get to know the Lord who is my shepherd. Only then can you fully follow Him.

Then our Lord said that he lay down his life, but for whom? There are two classes (verse 16). The first class is those within us. And another kind is the other sheep who are not of the sheepfold, the Gentiles. He says that the Lord lays down his life for him. So, does it end with giving up your life? no. He has the authority to take life again (verse 18). That there is power in authority. speaks of resurrection. This resurrection is speaking of life and abundant life (verse 10).

How is your salary? Wages are different from shepherds. The meaning of the word salokun is a borrowed hand. To call it a borrowed hand means to borrow a hand after working for a while. This wager is not interested in the sheep, but in the wages. I am interested in money. As a result, the wage warden has no attachment or responsibility to the sheep. He does not look after the sheep (verse 13). Therefore, we must not be in the wage war.

A shepherd is one who keeps sheep and is responsible for the sheep. It is said that sheep fight when threatened. Whether it is at home, at work, in society, in the church, or in the country, the person in charge is a person with the heart of a shepherd. However, irresponsibly squandering the money God has entrusted to them or neglecting the work entrusted to them is nothing more than a wage earner. Then, since we are God's sheep, what should we do as sheep? We must be the good sheep of the good shepherd. Don't be the bad sheep of the good shepherd. You must follow the good shepherd. Don't make the shepherd tired, weary, or discouraged.

We must believe in the shepherd with a joyful heart and be the good sheep of the Lord who follow us with an obedient heart. This is what we will do on our side. Therefore, I hope that you will become the good sheep of the Lord who enjoy eternal life, enjoying the joy of being with the Lord while receiving the Lord's love, guidance, and protection.
