Sermons for Preaching

Title The Great Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 06:8)

Content (1) Isaiah

-. Isaiah means “the Lord is salvation” and is a prophet who prophesied during the four kings: Uzziah, Joram, Ahaz, and Hezekiah.

-. Little is known about the life of Isaiah. He was the son of Amos and spent most of his life in Jerusalem.

-. He was the husband of a woman and the father of two sons. His wife was Yesa (Isaiah 8:3).

-. When we see that Isaiah served as an adviser to Kings Ahaz and Hezekiah (7:3-17, 39:1-18), when he expressed his deep views on political issues, when he saw his friends, or when he saw his prophetic style, It can be seen that he was an aristocratic class with a higher education. It is also known as the royal family.

(2) Isaiah, the man of faith

-. The time of Uzziah warned that religion would be formalized as a result of material civilization, and society would perish because of corruption. Then Isaiah, like the other prophets, cried out to repent of the sins of the people who rebelled against God, and repented deeply as a sinner who rebelled against God. The church, as the body of the Lord, also has a responsibility to bear with one member when a member commits a sin.

-. At that time, it was located between the two powers of Assyria in the west and Egypt in the east, so the king and his subjects had a strong policy of joining foreign powers on either side. Against this policy, he assured him that David's kingdom would never perish if he believed in and leaned on the one and only holy God, Jehovah.

(3) Isaiah the seer

-. A prophet is a person of vision and a person who sees (1 Samuel 9:9). But few of the prophets see as far and wide as Isaiah.

-. Only God's judgment awaited because the depravity in all fields of religion, politics, and society at that time was exposed. But Isaiah was never discouraged. Isaiah's eyes looked beyond the darkness of the present to the light of the future. God's chosen people never perish are compared to a remnant of stumps.

-. Isaiah's prophecies about the Messiah (Christ) account for the largest portion of a single prophet (the Psalms as a whole). The book of Isaiah is the most cited prophecy of Christ in the New Testament.

-. We too should have the eyes of prophetic faith like Isaiah.
