Title The Healing Jehovah/Exodus 15:22-27
Jehovah Rophi means 'God who heals'. In today's text, Israel experiences a God who heals. After the Exodus from Egypt, God was the God of healing to the people of Israel who experienced God's work of healing bitter water with sweet water in the wilderness. In this way, God heals the environment, the body, and the soul.
I. God heals our environment
After crossing the Red Sea, they walked for three days in the wilderness of Shur, but Israel did not find water. When they came to Marah, they found water, but they could not drink it because it was bitter. They lashed out at Moses, and eventually it turned to God. They had committed the sin of unbelief because of their unbelief. They could not remember the grace they had given them until this point, and they could not keep the faith that they would continue to do so in the future. Nevertheless, God healed the bitter water through Moses' prayer, and above all else, seeing how he obeyed the command to throw a tree into the water, he healed the water.
II. God heals our body
Why do God's people have diseases and suffering? It is because of sin. The body dies because of sin and the spirit lives because of righteousness. We do not have full salvation until our body is resurrected. Being born again is a living spirit, but not yet a living body. As a result, the body leads to disease, deterioration, and death. Unless this body is reborn as a body of resurrection, we cannot enter the kingdom of God. Because of sin, the body is under death, and it shows how terrible the price of sin is. But God heals our bodies. God heals us by preventing disease. "If you obey the word of the Lord...and do what is right...and keep the statutes...and none of the diseases will come upon you" (Exodus 15:26). Prevention is better than cure. When we live according to the word of the Lord, we must not forget that the Lord cares for us. Also, God values the means (method) for healing. Because means means medicine.
Ⅲ. God heals our souls
God heals our souls as He heals the waters of Mara. But just as sweet water was created after knowing that Mara's water is bitter, we can be saved when we know that we are sinners and seek salvation. And when we finally know that we are sinners, we should pray. When Moses cried out to God, God gave him a tree as medicine. We can also obtain spiritual medicine by crying out to God in prayer.
I will conclude
In order to be transformed today, I must become a new person in the Holy Spirit. Looking around today, there is only despair. But Jehovah, the healer, is able to heal us. Those who drank the water of Marah came to Elim Garden and lived in tents where there were 12 springs of water and 70 palm trees. Praise God, who heals our environment, body and soul, makes all things new and gives salvation, I pray in the name of the Lord that we may gain victory in it.
