Title The Joy of Being (1)
Joy of Being (1)
Text/ Psalm 139:1-18, John 16:21
1. Introduction
As I write this while meditating on the Word, the current time is January 1, 2013 at 12:35. Outside, it is snowing silently on top of the snow that fell last week. Heavy snow. The scenery is very beautiful. It is the same as the progenitor of Shin Heum, who said, “It is snowing in the mountain village and the stone road is buried. Don’t open the private gate. Who will find me? Looking at this wonderful scenery, I am truly grateful to God. Why? If I didn't exist as a human, I saw this amazing and enchanting snow scene and said, "Aha, that's cool!" Impressed - could you have been thrilled? Therefore, existence is a joy and a mystery.
2. Being is a joy
* You made my account and organized me from my mother's womb. I thank You, for Your creation is marvelous. My soul is well aware of the marvels of Your works. I was made in secret, and marvelous in the depths of the earth. When I was created, my form was not hidden from you. Your eyes saw my form before it was formed, and all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one came to pass. How precious are your thoughts to me, O God. How many are they? If I try to count them, they are more than the sand. Even when I awake, I am with you (Psalm 139:13-18). * When a woman gives birth, she is grieved because the hour has come, but when she gives birth to a child, she remembers the pain again because of the joy of being born into the world (John 16:21).
As such, the Bible basically refers to the birth of all beings as “joy”. The orthodox-historical position on our Christian existence is “esse qua esse bonum est” (esse qua esse bonum est). Mythologist Joseph Campbell summarized the contents of Hymn 310, “Oh, I do not know why God is redeeming this useless one by the grace of God.”
“Life (without God) is essentially meaningless. It's just that people have given meaning to their liking according to the situation. If you attach anything to that meaning, it all makes a plausible meaning. The true meaning of life is only that. Therefore, if you give meaning to your life, feel it, do it - if there is something you really want to do, do it as if it were a game. If you don't, you are living in Hell, for Hell is a dry life.” In other words, the meaning of existence is only in God, and only in Him can the meaning of being-the true joy of being (refer to: Joseph Campbell, Myth and Life, Galapagos, pp. 20-22).
3. What is the joy of being?
first. I have been locked up in the Jeongbae-ri house for 3 days because of the heavy snow falling from last weekend to today. But nonetheless I'm so good. There are no cars - no people - and sometimes black - magpie - lost mountain birds add serenity to the empty white space where I sit alone and drink the spring water of the Word. I love this time. If God had not made me exist, wouldn't this kind of joy really exist?
Not only that, God has given us the pleasure of the sixth sense. Pleasure to see (magnificent scenery - strange object - beautiful shape - marvelous phenomenon, etc.), joy to hear (bird sound - wind sound - sound of waves - music, etc.), pleasure to smell (scent of burning leaves - perfume - smell of coffee - smell of baby) ), pleasure to taste (food-drink, etc.), pleasure to touch (the texture of silk - the skinship of a loved one - the firm touch of a good friend, etc.), joy of the sixth sense (the feeling that something good will happen today - fly away) The exhilarating feeling of going, etc.), these are all joys that cannot be enjoyed without existence.
How barren would our lives be without the joy of this sixth sense in our lives? I am so thankful that God gave us this good sixth sense and allowed us to enjoy and taste it through this sixth sense.
second. As I was writing this, the crown cover that was covered with gold on my left molar popped out of my mouth! fell off Ike! What else is this? Upon closer inspection, the crown had rolled down because the teeth supporting it had rotted. It was a bit embarrassing, but this is also the joy of being. Because, as recorded in the book of Ecclesiastes, existence is a foreshadowing to realize that it is so.
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come, before the year draws near, when I will say I have no pleasure... It will cease, and those who look out through the spears will be darkened, the gates of the streets will be shut, and the birds will rise up, and all the women of the musicians will perish, they will fear the heights, they will be amazed on the road The trees will blossom, and the locusts will be a burden, and hatred will come to an end, for a man returns to his eternal home, and mourners go to and fro in the streets (Ecclesiastes 12:1-5).
“There are fewer millers,” that is, there are fewer molars that grind food. It is to make the body realize that all beings are bound to decline. This is a reminder to prepare to go back. This is also the joy of being God gives.
third. Therefore, it is biblical to view life, death, and death as a process of joy that God has given to all beings in the world, especially us, rather than a suffering to be overcome. No is it?
