Title The Living Word (Hebrews 4:12-16)

[Hebrews 4:12-16]

[12] The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. [15] There is nothing hidden before us, but all things are revealed naked before the eyes of those who have dealings with us. [14] Therefore, we have a great High Priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us hold fast to our faith [15] ] We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. I will come boldly before the throne.

To be alive means to have life, and to say that life is the Word means that there is life in the Word. There will be no believers today who deny the truth that there is life in the Word. And I think you must have listened to this word countless times and heard many sermons.

However, even now, there are many times when we do not experience the Word even though we know that it is an active and living Word in our lives. The words of Hebrews 4:12-13 are the words we know all too well, but when we think about whether these words become life and work in our lives, we are ashamed before God.

Please believe that the word of God is the accurate and unblemished word of the living God. Believing that this Word is alive and has life is the greatest biblical faith.

The Bible is like a simple instructional book or scripture, but it is not of any value. It's not like reading like a great sleeping pill when our minds are stuffy or we're feeling down, when we have time left or when we can't sleep.

In the text, it is said that the word of God is alive and has momentum, and that it is clearly active and has great power and value in that it is still at work.

In other words, the Bible is a written word, but the beauty of its sentences or story is not valuable, but the word itself is a living God.

First of all, the Bible is said to be the living Word.

This is because the Bible is spoken by the living God. This is because it is the word of God, who is still alive today and who governs, works, and operates us.

John 1:1-4 [In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning, and all things were made through him, and nothing that was made was made without him. No, there was life in him, and the life was the light of men.]

The Word is God Himself, and it is the fact that the heavens, the earth, and all things and humans were created through this Word. God said, Let there be light. There was light, and this word of God created all things visible and invisible.

And I hope you believe that the word of God is alive and working today. If you believe this word of God, there is no reason to worry or worry.

Today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become those who depend on the living Word of God in God's grace.

And it is the living Word because Jesus Christ lives forever.

It is the living word because it is the word of Jesus Christ, who not only died for our sins, but was resurrected and lives forever and is still with us. This is because Jesus Christ, who is the word of the living God and who came into this world in a human body, lives.

John 1:14 [The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. The one who preceded me came before me, because it refers to this man. We have all received from his fulness, grace upon grace. The law was given through Moses, and grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. There is no such thing, but the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, has made it known.]

Jesus Christ is the Word of God who became flesh. Therefore, the Word is the God who created and provides for all things, and at the same time, the living Jesus Christ Himself, who took on human flesh, came to this world to forgive our sins and rose from the dead. Jesus is the eternal Word of God, and we believe that if we believe in Jesus' words today, we will be saved from sin and death and all our problems will be solved.

We came out this morning to offer up all our wishes, supplications, and concerns to God. Did you come out believing that all our problems are solved by the power of the living Jesus? I pray in the name of the Lord that you will hold on to the eternal and living Word of God and come before the Lord in faith and confidence.

Today, I hope that you will become a new person through the word and live a life worthy of the gospel as a people belonging to heaven. I hope you not only accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, but also become a little Jesus who resembles Jesus, become a true disciple, and proclaim to yourself and those around you that the Word is alive in your life.

Also, the word that the Bible is alive means that it is a living word because it is still working by the Holy Spirit today.

As the promise of Jesus, the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, so the Word is the living Word.

2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” The Holy Spirit that came on the day of Pentecost is God and the Spirit of Jesus Christ. That Holy Spirit is the Word of God.

In other words, He came from the personal Father and the Son as the personal Holy Spirit. He gave us the evil promised through the Holy Spirit to us who were justified through faith together with Abraham. Therefore, the Bible is not merely a written document, but a living God who calls out and appears to us.

When you hear and understand the word of God with the filling of the Holy Spirit, I hope you have a day of hearing God's voice and winning. I hope you will live a life in which you and your family and neighbors are transformed through the living Word and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Second, the living word of God is the word of judgment.

The words of the text “sharpener than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow,” indicate that the work of judgment is taking place where the Word is. The word of God is that He goes into places we cannot see, judges and divides.

We live in a jumble of light and darkness, truth and fiction, good and evil, order and chaos. I'm trying to find a clue to solving a problem with a relative baseline. However, without the word of God, which is the absolute standard, there can be no right discernment or judgment. When the Word enters into my life, the whole person is judged. Our lives change and we gain vitality. Only when the old man dies and the new man appears, the Word will come alive in our lives. No matter how much you listen to the words of the Bible, it is of no use if there is no history of life in which the old man dies and a new man is born.

Through these words today, I pray in the name of the Lord that the work of whole-person judgment will take place in our corrupted spirits, souls, joints and marrow. Thus, where there is the Word, there can be a new life, a new society, and a new work.

Lastly, there is nothing to hide from the living Word of God.

The text clearly states, “We search the thoughts and intentions of the heart, and there is not a single thing that has been made that is not made visible before him, but all things are revealed as naked before the eyes of those who have relations with us.”

Because of Adam's fall, human hearts and minds were darkened, and all things were in a cursed state. Everything has become dark and hidden, but in the presence of the Word of God, everything cannot but be revealed. The Word of God also reveals the aspects of sin that only I know of, which no one knows.

Our lives today are also revealed as naked in the light of God's Word. We want the sword of this word to reflect our hidden sins and our thoughts and attitudes, so that we can save what will save us and kill what will kill us, revealing our weaknesses, shortcomings, and iniquity. And we must acknowledge and confess our weakness and come before the Lord. The reason we dare to come before the throne of God's grace in this way is because Jesus has become our great High Priest, as in verse 14.

The Bible says, “There is no one righteous, not even one.” He says, “He died because of sins.” If we have the Word, it will reveal this kind of who we are.

We cannot come to the Lord in this form, but we must have confidence that we can come out because Jesus is there.

Let's look again at verse 14 and below. [Therefore, we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us hold fast our faith. We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet Therefore let us come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.] The living Word of God not only gives us strength and power, but also reveals and forgives our sins. He renews you and gives you the power to come boldly before the throne of grace because of Jesus.

Dear saints, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will come to the throne of God's grace by relying on Jesus, who is still alive and working in our lives.
