Title: Lord of the Sabbath!!!
On the Sabbath day, as Jesus was leading his disciples through the wheat fields, the disciples were hungry and cut the gleanings to eat. Aren't your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?" Jesus immediately recalled David's case of the showbread and said, "He went into the house of God and ate the showbread, which no one but the priests can eat, and he did not die." Listen and explain, and refute their logic.
To the Jews living under the law, the Sabbath has the same meaning as life. Since Jesus' disciples are casually breaking such a Sabbath without blinking an eye, from the point of view of the Pharisees, it is of course worth arguing with Jesus. However, from the perspective of the Pharisees, this is only a statement from the point of view of the Pharisees, and from the point of view of Jesus, it is an action that is not at all reluctant. This is the difference between man and God. Humans are unaware of this advantage.
God told the Israelites not to do anything on the Sabbath. It is because God made the world in six days and rested on the seventh day, so God's people also followed God and told him to rest on the seventh day. However, he did not give specific instructions on how to keep the Sabbath except for a few instructions. For example, as in the story in today's text, it is not explicitly stated that cutting and eating the ears of grain on the Sabbath is a violation of the law.
So who invented this specific Sabbath law? It is a law created by those who wanted to show their zeal before God. They thought that doing so would make them believe in God better. The same is true of Christians today. Each denomination has its own doctrine, which is also a law created with the intention of making people believe in God better. To explain with one example, there are no laws stipulated by law anywhere in the Bible such as Wednesday worship, Friday all-night service, or early morning prayer that Christians today offer every week.
Nevertheless, Christians do not miss out on such services every day. So many people are tainted with such a ritual that they feel that every corner of their heart is not happy if they don't worship. But all of this is a law created by zealous people to better believe in God. For them, doing this is mistaken for believing in God better. If they think it is good faith to do this kind of thing, then why only worship three or four times a week? If we worship every day, no, all day long, won't God consider it to be a good thing we believe in and give us great blessings?
Those who try to show off their faith by doing this are actually those who know nothing about God. If a person is saved after doing something before God, this is salvation through human action, and it can never be God's grace. Unless salvation is given by God's grace, man must already be righteous on his own. But can a man be righteous on his own? If human beings can become righteous on their own, there is no need for Christ to come to this earth twice.
Because of this absurd reality, those who were eager to believe in God under the law are misunderstanding the Son of God who comes in the flesh as the same being as them. "Why don't you keep the laws that God has given you with us?" The existence of the law means that the law is necessary to supervise those who practice lawlessness, and the law has no effect on those who do not break the law. can not do it.
Likewise, all human beings are lawless and must live under the supervision of the law, but unlike humans, the Son of God does not need to be governed or directed by anyone. In other words, because he is innocent, he does not need to be scrutinized by the law. To the people of Israel, the law is a terrible law, but it has no effect in the presence of Jesus. Jesus is saying that He came to fulfill the law because He came like this. People at the time did not realize this at all.
Christians living under the Holy Spirit today are also bound by the law for one thing. For the Israelites, the law that was applied to the flesh is now applied to the human heart according to the law of the Holy Spirit. No matter how earnestly Christians today go to worship in accordance with the law of the Holy Spirit, they cannot drive out the hidden sins in their hearts. To complete this, we must believe in the Son of God who comes before Christians like a thief.
Just because I go to church blindly without knowing this fact, does not mean that the kingdom of heaven automatically grows within me. For heaven to grow within me, I must create a good environment for it to grow. A good circumstance is to humble oneself infinitely as a sinner. When we humble ourselves like a leper, a tax collector, or a prostitute, the Lord ?쐄orgives our sins.??
In conclusion, the main purpose of the Sabbath that God said is that man can enjoy the highest rest in Christ. The rest enjoyed without Christ cannot be proper rest. It is in this context that God sends Christ to us again. The greatest rest for man is when the Lord has driven out my old master from my heart and is seated as a new master. This is what it means to be born again into Christ. Those who have been reborn as Christ are not deceived by any temptations of the world, but only look to the Lord.
