Title The meaning of the fourth commandment
“Remember the sabbath day to be holy” (Exodus 20:8-11)
The Sabbath is a day ordained to worship God. However, the reason the text emphasizes the memory of “remember the Sabbath” is because people easily forget to keep this Sabbath day holy.
But why should we keep the Sabbath?
First, God not only commanded us to keep the Sabbath, second, God rested on this day, third, God blessed this day in particular, fourth, blessing those who keep it, and fifth, medically, it is healthy to work six days and rest for one day. Because it is good and reasonable.
Therefore, the Sabbath was made by God not only to be glorified through his chosen people, but also to give us rest, and to go one step further, to sanctify us by the word. Then why do we keep Sunday instead of keeping Saturday, the Sabbath of the Old Testament (like the Adventists)?
What should I do next to keep Sunday holy? Consider two ways to keep the Sabbath (Sunday) holy.
First of all, on the negative side, you shouldn't work on Sundays. On this day we must stop all worldly things that hinder our worship of God. However, it is okay to do things that are directly related to the body and good things, such as cooking rice, a doctor treating a patient, or a soldier protecting the country.
Next, in a positive way, we must keep this day holy and do God's work. The passive aspect of keeping it is not enough, we must make this day holy. To do this, you must first prepare for the Sunday. Second, as in Isaiah 58:13, entertainment that interferes with a godly life should be prohibited, considered as an honorable day, and kept holy. have to decorate
