Title The Most Beautiful Confession/2004. 11. 14
content down confession
Colossians 3:15-17, Luke 17:12-19
Today I would like to share a word about gratitude. Because next week is Thanksgiving. Next Sunday we come to church Oh! Today is Thanksgiving! I'm going to have to make a Thanksgiving offering! It should not be such a careless worship service. In the old days of Abraham, when we worshiped, we first built an altar with stones, and then we put sacrifices on it and worshiped God. I hope this week will be a week to build an altar with stones of faith like this.
One day, Jesus was walking with his disciples. Then a shout was heard from afar. 'Jesus, have mercy on us!' They were ten people with Hansen's disease (leprosy). The cry was a desperate cry containing the last hope, and it was a mourning prayer, believing that only the Lord has hope. The Lord answered. 'Go and show your body to the priest.' They were so desperate and so desperate that they didn't even have time to check their bodies, so they started believing and running. It is up to the priest, because only when the priest confirms that he is sick can they return to their families. How amazing is their belief? It wasn't something Jesus touched, and it wasn't that he was healed right away. It is clearly stated in the bible. 'As they went, they were cleansed' (14). It did not mean that he went away, but that he was healed while believing in the words of Jesus and running.
At first, all ten together ran toward the priest. But then a man stood tall. He said he was a Samaritan. he thought 'It's not, it's the grace of Jesus that my body became perfect, but it's wrong to leave without saying anything like this. It's right to go to Jesus and give thanks first.' He returned and fell on his face before Jesus. I shed tears of joy. "Lord, thank you. Thank you for forgiving a sinner like me and for giving me the grace to heal my body. Now I am born twice, it is no longer I who live, I believe that you live in me and I will live my life for you."
Jesus said to the Samaritan.
"Your faith has saved you."
Ten lepers--they believed at least in the power of Jesus. That's why I didn't run away just after hearing the word. And I was healed according to that faith. But they were not grateful. Faith that believes in the existence of God, but does not have thanksgiving, is a faith that has no life. Therefore, all ten people were healed, but only one person was saved a Samaritan.
Modern people, from children to young adults to adults, do not know how smart, clear, and self-conscious they are. That's why all of their rights and claims stand out. Humility and devotion, concession and respect have a tendency to be sullen. I was able to read the changed state of affairs while watching interviews with young children on TV a while ago. The phrase 'a good child' is not a compliment these days. Hearing things like that makes you feel bad. The concept of the word 'good kid' is somewhat misleading as 'stupid kid', 'child without personality' and 'incompetence'. It clearly shows that this is an era of strong individuality and strong self-assertion. However, I worry that the important values such as humility, gratitude, devotion, and concession that should really exist in it are dying if done wrong.
Everyone knows that they live in the world with their own talents and their own abilities, while putting forth their individuality and self-consciousness. So, gratitude disappeared from the hearts of people. In this view of life, everything is taken for granted. What I have, whether it be health, materiality, status, or talent, I take for granted what I have now. There can be no gratitude in a heart that takes everything for granted. But when you think about it, nothing is obvious. All are there by grace, all are there because of love, all are there because of devotion.
I remember those words in a letter my second son sent when he was about two months old when he left the army. 'Nothing in the world is natural. Every chopstick on the table is soaked in someone's sweat.' At the time, I felt my heart swell while reading that article, but it really is. There is nothing in the world for granted. Everyone has someone's hand, so it's there.
It is said that 10 years have passed since the collapse of Seongsu Bridge. When I saw the special feature in the newspaper, I felt the pain and emotion of the tip of my nose at the same time. At that time, it is said that a college student named 'Lee Seung-young' was among the students who were killed while crossing Seongsu Bridge on the bus. This student was 21 years old at the time and was a third year student at Seoul National University. It is said that he was on his way to the school entrusted with the teaching practice that day. However, as the Seongsu Bridge collapsed, it fell and died along with the bus it was riding on. A diary was found among the memorabilia, and there was a part written like this.
'What I want to do for the rest of my life' - 14 wishes
I was surprised to read this. How could a 21-year-old young girl have such faith and how could she have such a wild dream? How could he make such a grand and grand plan for life at such a young age? I was really surprised. As I read this article, I was at the same time ashamed and at the same time very proud. Ah! There are children of the Lord who live with such wonderful thoughts! There is a young man who lives with such a heart to repay the love of God, the love of a Christian, and the love of his parents that he received through faith!
When I saw it in the newspaper, I saw a young man with a very bright, bright expression and a cool, attractive face. Who would have given her this heart? Where does your mind come from? Isn't it a heart that comes from faith? Isn't it a heart that comes from gratitude?
In today's text,
Let the peace of Christ rule your hearts...
Also, be grateful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...
Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, praising God with thanksgiving in your heart.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
Thank Heavenly Father for him. Colossians 3:15-17
The Apostle Paul speaks of gratitude as the heart and attitude that a saved Christian should have in these words. Be a grateful person, praise God with thanksgiving, and give thanks for anything you do in Jesus name.
There is a story like this. It means that someone went to the devil's warehouse. The devil's storehouse had many seeds ready to sow in people's hearts. There were the seeds of pride, the seeds of lies, the seeds of greed, the seeds of hate, and the seeds of disappointment. Among them, the most seed was the 'seed of disappointment'. The devil who guards the warehouse explains that this 'seed of disappointment' grows well once it is sown in anyone's heart. Even in those who laugh with joy, if this seed of disappointment is sown, the joy disappears, frowns, and if you sow this 'seed of disappointment' in the hearts of those who pray earnestly because they are full of faith, faith and zeal will disappear. is. It was explained that even those who worked hard will soon grow and bear fruit of resentment if they sow this 'seed of disappointment' in their hearts. However, with only one heart, even the 'seed of disappointment' cannot grow. According to the warehousekeeper devil, that heart is a 'thankful heart'. This story is a symbolic story, but the meaning it contains is a story that teaches us a great lesson.
The era of gratitude. We live in an era where everyone is only confronting demands and claims. However, the Christian's character is to live a life of gratitude. A down confession in faith, that is gratitude. A down-to-earth confession between people, that is thanks.
Since we cannot see the deep inside of a person, we cannot know which beliefs are true. However, there is one thing that can guess that faith from the phenomena that appear, and that is gratitude. Is he a grateful person? Is he truly grateful to God? Are you a person who dedicates with thanks, gives with thanks, praises with thanks, and worships with thanks? You can see the measure of that faith. As I once said, if we can weigh our faith, the weight of gratitude will be the weight of that faith. If our faith can be measured by the length, the length of gratitude will be the length of that faith.
Next week is Thanksgiving Day. I hope this week will be a week to find gratitude and spend it with the faith of gratitude. So, I wish you a week full of joy and gratitude, with your faith restored and with a down heart, down confession, and gratitude. In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that even if you are in a difficult and difficult environment, you will have a blessed life of believers who will overcome pain and difficulties with the faith of thanksgiving.
