The mystery of service (1 Chronicles 28:9-10, Mark 10:45), Rev. Eunseong Seo

The most important message God gives us through the Old and New Testaments is love. Loving God and loving your neighbor are the most important religious acts.

Love takes effort. The concrete act of love is to serve.

Therefore, the Christian life of faith is to practice service.

The text of the Old Testament - David's lesson These are the words David left to his son Solomon before he died. David knew that the most precious thing in his life was to serve God.

The main text of the New Testament - The purpose of Jesus' coming to this earth is clearly stated.

As we read today, it says, “He would rather serve, and give his life as a ransom for many.”

Jesus said that the purpose of coming to this earth was to 'serve'.

Then, what is the life of the saints who must imitate Jesus Christ?

The true form of Christian faith must still be a 'servant' like the Lord.

1. What is service?

In John 13, Jesus gives the example of service. Serving is fulfilling a need. Serving is for him, not me. to work for him. True faith is possible only with the sacrifice of labor and sacrifice.

2. Who does Jesus say we should serve?

The object of service is to serve the nearest neighbor first. Your closest neighbors are your family.

The closest people are a couple. The life of faith is to create new human relationships.

The new human relationship is a relationship of service.

3. How should we serve?

1 Chronicles 28:9 says, "Serve them with a complete heart and with a willing mind. The Lord searches hearts and knows every thought." A perfect mind is not a complex mind. It is not a divided mind. We will serve with only one heart. And I'm telling you to serve with a happy will. Those who serve must serve in the name of Jesus Christ.

4. What blessings are there to those who serve?

In John 13:17, Jesus set the example of service and said, "Blessed are you if you know these things and do them." God exalts those who serve. The Lord is looking for those who serve today, and He wants to bless and exalt him.
